'Hand over the girl'

'Not going to happen'

I was nervous. How shall she react? I had a surprise planned for her. 'Caspian!' Her gentle voice rings into the air and I see her rushing towards me. 'What was so urgent my love?' Her blue eyes are wide and she looks worried. I shake my head and chuckle. I take her hands in my own. 'No Su. Nothing to worry about. But I wanted to take you on a walk along the beach' Susan let a breath escape and she pushes my shoulder softly. 'I thought that something bad had happen!' She says but I can see the twinkle in her eyes. I offer her my arm and she curtsy's and takes it. Together we walk towards the beach, greeting Narnians on our way.
We arrive at the beach and behind a rock forming is a little bay. There I have prepared a couple of things for us, like a blanket to sit on and some fruits to eat and of course, the engagement ring. I made it myself with help of the blacksmith. It is a golden ring, similar to her crown with one diamond and the sentence love conquers all engraved in it.
'Caspian!' Su her hands fly up to her mouth and she laughs happily. 'What it this?' She giggles. I take her hand and lead her to the blanket and push her gently down. 'It's a surprise' I sit down on one knee and Su looks in shock at me. 'Caspian..'
'My Susan. The first moment I met you, I knew you were the one for me. So after a lot of struggle, we are finally together. Your brothers and sister have granted me with their blessing and also the Great Lion himself, your father has given us his blessing. So my love, will you marry me?' I take the ring out of my pocket and show it to her. Susan looks at me with tears in her eyes, she smiles and nods her head. 'Yes!' She beams. 'Yes, by Aslan, I want to marry you!' She throws her hands around my neck and buries her head into the crook of my neck. She lets me go and her lips find mine. I chuckle and pull back. Her cheeks are red and she is smiling. I take her right hand and slide the ring around her ring finger. I kiss her once more. I want to take her in my arms but she is pulled away. Susan yells in anger at the men who hold her. She kicks them and they let her go. I draw my sword and Susan runs back to me. I push her behind me, my body protecting hers. She lays one hand on my shoulder, I look at her. She doesn't looks scared, only angry.
She is mad at them because they ruined the moment. I chuckle.
'Hand over the girl!' the biggest one of the two commands. 'Not going to happen' I growl at them. The biggest one nods his hand and his friend runs towards me, his sword drawn but his body is unprotected. I block his attack and I swung my sword, hitting his abdomen. He cries in pain and falls on the ground, clutching his stomach. The biggest one now angry rushes at me, his sword comes down on me and it scratches my arm. He grins and I attack him. He blocks me but after a while he grows tired. With one slice I finish him off. I am breathing heavy as I feel two arms around me. I drop my sword and turn around. The second man is bled to dead. 'So what were we doing again?' I joke. Susan giggles but releases me. 'We should tell them the news' She takes my hand. I give her a quick kiss and pull her towards Cair Paravel. 'And our stuff and the dead bodies?' She asks me. 'Do not worry, I arrange everything'

Years later when we tell our grandchildren the story about how I proposed to Susan, they never believe us. So every time is show them the small scar the bandit gave me. And we laugh about it.
But I praise Aslan every day that I married Susan and that she loves me. I love her siblings to, they are my lost brothers and sister I never had and the Great Lion himself is the one I call father. But Susan, she is the light of my life. And I am happy that one the day I proposed to her no one was hurt, except the men who wanted her. We still don't understand why or who they were but it doesn't matter.
After all I am married to her and we had a long blessed life.
