The next morning, shinji woke before asuka and decided to make her breakfast. He prepared her her favorite German breakfast pancakes, complete with the fresh berries. He wasn't a huge fan of them, but he could certainly see why she was. Besides, after last night, she probably needed to get her strength back. As shinji was slicing the berries, his phone rang.
"Hello." He said, opening it.
"Shinji." Misato said on the other end.
"Oh hey misato." Shinji answered
"Your dad had a question for you, but he was busy in a meeting with fuyutsike, he said he called earlier but you didn't pick up, figured you were still asleep." Misato said
"Oh yeah, I was, what's his question." Shinji asked
"He wanted to know if you had seen asuka's psychological profile." Misato said.
"No, not really." Shinji lied
"I thought so, why the hell would he ask something like that." Misato said
"I can't tell you, at least not yet, not until I'm sure what's going on." Shinji said
"Shinji, you know I don't like it when people keep secrets from me." Misato said
"I know, but this is for her own good at the moment, she doesn't know I know." Shinji said
"Know what." Misato asked
"The thing that I can't tell you about." Shinji said
"Alright, but if Asuka is in trouble, let me know as soon as possible." Misato said
"I will." Shinji said and hung up. After he finishes breakfast, he carried it back to Asuka's room. She was just waking up.
"Good morning." Shinji said placing the tray over her legs.
"Oh my god." Asuka said. "It smells amazing, did you do all"
"Yeah, hope you enjoy." Shinji said.
"But why." Asuka said, "after the way I treated you. Why would you do this for me."
"Well you need your strength back." Shinji said. "And because we are friends."
"Friends." Asuka thought out loud.
"Though at the risk of being to forward." Shinji said. "I think we could be more than friends."
