Shinji felt the bed shift and watched as asuka walk to the bathroom.  He got up to follow her so he could help her if she needed it, but the door was locked.  He was about to knock when he heard her crying.  He hesitated and listened.  He didn't know what she was doing, but it certainly wasn't good,  he took out his cell phone.  He didn't know who to call.  Misato was at work, busy working on important paper work, ritsuko was still detained, ibuki, hyuga, and aoba were back at headquarters as well, hikari, Toji, and kensuke were asleep by now.  Fuyutsike had gone out for the night, that left one person

"Shinji" he said.  Shinji gasped.  He hadn't expected to hear that voice pick up.  "What's going on?" His father asked.
"Dad, something's wrong." Shinji said.  Gendo Ikari listened for the first time in 3 years.

"What is it?" He asked.  "Are you okay."
"Yeah I'm fine, but asuka isn't." Shinji said
"What's wrong with her." Gendo asked
"I don't know but she locked herself in the bathroom and I can hear her crying." Shinji said.  "What do I do."
"Go back to bed." Gendo said.
"And do nothing." Shinji said.  "But I have to do something."
"That's not enough information to assume anything bad is going on." Gendo said.  "Keep an eye on her and keep me posted."
"I will dad." Shinji said.
"Call me anytime" Gendo said and hung up.

Gendo Ikari looked through asuka's psychological analysis.  He didn't like what he found.  She may have had a big ego, but it was fragile and the angels had shattered it.  Low self esteem, little to no parental contact.  She was a ticking time bomb towards an end Gendo didn't even want to consider.  He felt his own sleeve, they still stung, 3 years later.
