Chapter 16

Burning Blood

Masons hand was bleeding really bad and I had just noticed a deep cut on the side of his head when he turned.

"There's a cut on the side of your head! Are you ok? Do you feel light headed at all? How much blood do you think your loosing??" I asked in panic hoping he wouldn't have to pass out from blood loss. But he just smiled and said,

"I'm fine."

"Ok, I hope your not lying to me."

"Come on, Alayna! When have I ever lied to you?" Right when he said that I just have him a stern but sarcastic look.

"Haha sorry." He said, trying to cover it up. We kept walking in silence, the silence was starting to feel awkward. I put my hands behind by back and held them.

"We should hurry, you could pass out or something." I said breaking the silence, but Mason didn't reply.

"Mason?" I said looking at him. His face was starting to look pale, his eyes where starting to shut and his footsteps where going a little out of line.

"Mason, are you ok?!" No answer.

Only a split seconds afterwords his eyes slowly shut and he started to fall. I caught him just before he hit the ground and hoisted his arm around my neck trying to help him walk. It was hard because he was already fully passed out and dead weight.

"Dammit Mason.." I whispered trying to walk back to my house. When I finally reached my house I opened the front door and putting Mason on the couch. His face was more pale then I thought possible..

I grabbed a rag from the bathroom and but cold water on it, I made my way back to Mason on the couch and placed the rag on the deep cut on his head.

"I jinxed it.." I said as I shook my head in disgust of myself. I heard Mason faintly mumble something, but I couldn't make it out. Then his eyes slowly opened.

"Where am I?..." He said looking around then to me.

"Oh crud, did I pass out or something?"

"Yea, something like that." Mason looked at the ceiling, closed his eyes and sighed.

I carefully looked at the rag and saw all of the blood that was left behind on it.

"I'm guessing you lost to much blood."

I said sarcastically.

"Obviously." He said back to me.

"Hey Mason, right before you woke up you mumbled something, but I couldn't tell what you said. Do you remember?" I asked.

"I don't remember, sorry." Mason said looking at me.

"Alright." On the outside when I said that it seemed like I didn't really care, but on the outside I felt like it was really important, it could be something related to the damn nightmare.

"I think I should go home." Mason said taking the rag off of his head.

"Are you sure, Mason? You just past out..."

"Ya I'm sure." Mason replied giving me the rag and trying to stand. I could see him struggling to keep his balance and I helped him stand.

"Mason, I don't think your ok to go home, you're loosing your balance and your pale."

"Look Alayna, you can't keep me here. I have to go home. I promise I'll be fine. Please do not walk me home, I promise,"

Mason cut himself off for a second and pat my head as if I where a little kid.
