Chapter 17

Afraid.

Mason and I walked to my house, but I most likely limped instead. To prevent limping, Mason decided to take my arm and wrap it around his neck, he then put one hand on my waist and we where side to side walking. All I could hear where the drops of water hitting the ground and our footsteps. I had goosebumps again from the cold air hitting me. Mason already had a hoodie, so he didn't feel as cold as I did. I was happy that he didn't have to suffer the cold. It was only maybe a couple minutes until I felt Masons hand move off of my waist and him take my arm off of his neck, at first I thought he was giving up on helping me walk. To be honest I was happy he didn't have to worry about me, but then he took off his hoodie and gave it to me. I began to protest.

"But it's yours, keep it. It's my own fault I didn't bring my own hoodie, you shouldn't have to suffer the cold because I forgot to bring one." I said as the rain began to drench our hair.

"You'll get sick, if you get sick you'll never be able to kick the nightmares ass."

I laughed at his comment a bit.

"Fine, but if you get sick, it's not my fault." I said as I put the hoodie on and put the hood over my head.

Mason took my hand and let my arm wrap around his neck as he took his hand and put it on my waist. To be honest I felt a little awkward in the position I blushed. Good thing it was raining so hard you could barely see in from of you.

We reached my house and I opened the door to let us in. I let Mason in first and then I carefully walked in. My hair was so soaked that it dripped, so did Mason's hair. I took the hood off of my head and finally realized that the hoodie itself was probably a size to big, the sleeves covered my hands and left my fingers barely poking out.

"You can have your hoodie back, I have my crimson one." I said as I gently took the collar and looked down at the white hoodie.

"It's alright, I'm not that cold." He replied as he sat on the couch.

When he said that, it made me think.

Is the blood rising in temperature that fast?!

"Say, Mason. Do you happen to have holy water or something?" I said hoping it wasn't to weird of a question.

"Holy water? Why would I?" He said in confusion.

"Never mind, it's just for..an experiment I wanted to try." I said trying to act like I wasn't lying.

"Oh, ok" he said lying down on the couch probably going to sleep.

"Well, if your going to sleep, do you need anything?" I said covering up what I said before.

"No I'm fine." Mason said right as he drifted off. Honestly, I felt a bit jealous that he could sleep without a worry he could die in only a matter of hours. But then I remembered he could die in only a few days. I didn't have time to wait anymore.

Tomorrow, I have to get everything.

I thought as I walked up stairs.

I went into my room and shut the door.

I turned out the light and sat at the foot of my bed to scared to go to sleep. I grabbed my crimson hoodie off the ground and put it on. I always felt better with it on. I pulled my knees to my chest once again and wrapped my arms around them. Then I felt something, the madness was starting to come out but I tried to force it back down. It didn't work and I grabbed my bag without noticing it. I forcefully opened the bag and took out the butcher knife I put in there earlier. I gripped the handle with my inner madness taking over fully. I couldn't control anything but my brain and my eyes, I was forced to watch myself become something I wasn't. I had to watch in horror a I slit my arms as the blade kept cutting higher and higher until it was right over my wrist.
