Chapter 10

Cloudpaw was in his nest. He was laying on his back, tired. All of a sudden, a yowl split the air! Cloudpaw jumped from his nest and ran out into the clearing. He saw Grayfeather running into the nursery. A moon had passed and it looked like Icefall was giving birth. Dawnstar padded up to him.

"Do you want to see the kits? I could give you the day off." Dawnstar meowed.

"Can I still hunt and practice battle moves?" Cloudpaw asked.

"Of course!" Dawnstar replied.

"I'll take the day off then." Cloudpaw said. Cloudpaw trotted over to the nursery. He went inside

to see a light gray she-cat with a white belly laying down in a nest. A white tom was beside her. The she-cat looked up when he entered.

"Did you come to see the kit?" The she-cat asked, sleepily.

"Can I, Icefall?" Cloudpaw asked.

"Of course!" The she-cat purred. Cloudpaw padded over to Icefall's nest and looked inside. A strong white tom-kit with gray spots was at her belly.

"What's his name?" Cloudpaw asked, fascinated.

"His name is Hawkkit." The white tom purred. Cloudpaw watched Hawkkit move around the nest.

"I should go." Cloudpaw meowed. He went out of the nursery and saw Spottedpaw in the clearing. He padded over to her. "Hey, do you want to hunt?" Cloudpaw asked. Spottedpaw looked over at him and purred, "Sure." They padded out into the forest, their pelts brushing. They came upon a small pond and looked into it.

"I dare you to try and fish!" Spottedpaw meowed. Cloudpaw looked into the pool and saw a fish he leaped in and tried to grab it, but he missed and fell in. Spottedpaw was on the ground laughing. Cloudpaw mumbled beneath his breath, embarrassed.

"I didn't think you were mouse brained enough to do it!" Spottedpaw laughed. Cloudpaw sighed, he was trying to impress her, but he ended up embarrassing himself.
