We're still sitting outside, Blaze came to join me in my spot about an hour ago. The sun is already set but we are still here. The weather is perfect there is no way to describe it. It's like being in a movie, where everything is just indescribably perfect. That's the feeling I have right now. Except it could be better if there were no mosquitoes......
"Lucy?"
"Yes mom?"
"It's getting late, come inside."
"I'm coming." With that I pushed the heavy weight blanket off of me, also known as Blaze our dog. No wonder she's been in the rescue place so long, she's like a portable heater that leaves fur every which where. It all makes good sense now.
As I walk in I hear singing. What the heck? That's not Brooke's voice, Brooke can sing and this voice sounds like a bag of cats in a bag being thrown against a brick wall. I look back at my mom who just shrugs her shoulders. I walk in, nervous to what I might see and when I do, I have a mini but very real heart attack.
It's.....
My....
DAD!
Why is he singing?
I lose my train of thought when I'm being pushed through the door. When I take my eyes off of the horrid man singing in the kitchen with a spatula I look at my own surroundings. On my right I see Brooke and on m left I see my mom with her phone out recording my dad singing with a spatula in a pink apron.
"Mom what are you doing with that?" I ask.
"Oh you know, just going to email this out to everyone...." My mother says casually. Sometimes I swear I'm the only normal one from this family. "Now just watch your father sing Taylor Swift." I turn my attention back to my father singing.
" I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
Now I'm lying on the hard cold ground
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble-"
Brooke cuts off our dad my laughing way too loud. We all give her that "are you kidding" look. She just looks innocent and carries on. My dad drops the spatula and his mouth is agape. My mom realizes that she still had her phone out so she hides it behind her back.
"H-hey dad.... what's up?" I awkwardly say.....
"You two, go to bed, your mother and I need to talk." Uh oh... this can't be good at all. I hope my dad isn't mad, it was just a joke.
I walk up to my room and Blaze follows me in. I close the door behind us and walk to my bed. I turn off my lamp but I can't help but feel really self-conscious. Like someone is watching me.... Nah I'm probably just crazy, plus Blaze would act up if there was someone here any ways so I shouldn't worry about nothing... hopefully....

I wake up to the sound of barking.
What the fluff?
I look over at Blaze who is barking. I get out of bed and try to calm her down. Oh wait, last night I had a creepy gut feeling but ignored it... maybe it's happening now?
After a few minutes I finally get her to quiet down. Next I look over at my alarm clock to see that it's 6:30am, I guess maybe Blaze is my new alarm clock. This sucks, but I do have to say it's efficient. I walk over to my closet and look at all my options that I could wear today. After like ten minutes of examining the clothes I finally come to a decision. I'm going to wear a neon yellow one-shoulder t-shirt and bleached jean shorts. It's not the best outfit but it's good enough for today. I head over to the bathroom realizing that I haven't even taken a shower yet... gross.
I strip out of my clothes and hop in the warm shower. I can't really take a long one since my stupid new school starts at 7:45 and ends at 2:50. A while later I get out wrapping a towel around me. I instantly freeze and miss the warm water from the shower. This sucks.
I decide on what to do with my hair, I may as well curl it. I do the rest of the normal morning get ready things and I head downstairs where the rest of my family is watching the news. I sit down on the sofa and quickly realize that the lady is talking about a kidnap and murder. I stay quiet while Judy Mars, the reporter tells us what's going on.
"This is Judy Mars with the SHI News. Is this neighbourhood really safe for kids? 14 year old Amy Pall was kidnapped last week and found dead in a creek just outside of a school neighbourhood. "Oh my god, that's near Lucy's and Brooke's school."
"It's okay Marissa, I'm they'll be perfectly fine."
"No Stan, what if that happens to one of them? What are we going to do?"
"I'll tell you what Brooke and I are going to do," I say, "we are on our way to school so we aren't late and don't get detention on the first day.
