Decision

"Qerinza Dexorio! Where have you been?! Do you not know the consequences of your immature actions?!"

As I stepped inside the house, I was greeted with a booming voice that belonged to my dearest mother.

"Mom, I know what I've----"

"Don't talk unless I'm finished. Now, do you know how much effort it took me to plead the guardians to not banish you? I'm not even sure if they would comply to my requests! It's such a simple rule, Qer. All you had to do was follow it. Is it so hard to keep being in the dark?!"

Don't get me wrong, my mother is a great person. She just takes her time on scolding me. But lately, I'm getting annoyed. And I sure can't hold the fire I'm about to spit from my mouth.

"Maybe I don't want to be in the dark!"

That burst of rage caught my mother off guard for a while.

"Qerinza! What are you talkin----"

"Yes mom! You heard it right! Do you think it's fun staying in the dark while observing how humans have fun? No! I want to be like that too! I want to feel that I have someone to rely on! I want to have a friend, a caring family, and perhaps a lover too!"

"Qerinza! That's outrageous! You know that a love between a human and a decolinate is forbidden! You're young and confused. It may take a while to make you underst----"

"But that's what I want. I want to be out of the dark. I want to communicate. I want to... be normal."

"I don't know. The guardians are already voting on your fate. They might either banish you or torture you. Or worse, they might execute you. I don't want that to happen. You better be thankful your dad hasn't arrived. His head is probably in flames right now."

Before I could respond, a loud knock was heard in the front door.

"That's probably your dad. Let's go open it for him."

We both slowly approached the door. Dad was a kind father, but he sure does know how to discipline his children. And yes, I do have a brother. An annoying older one.

Mom opened the door but was surprised when it wasn't dad. It was a member of the guardians.

"Qerinza Dexorio, you have been summoned to court for the decision upon your violation of the law."

Well shit. I knew this was going to happen.

I opened the door to see a carriage waiting for me. Unfortunately, only two was allowed to enter, meaning the member of the guardians and I were only supposed to ride it.

I looked at mom apollogetically. Looks like I'll be facing my problems alone.

"Go ahead, dear. I'll meet you there."

I nodded and rode the carriage. In no time, we began moving and I looked at mom as she vanished on the other side of the street.

We finally reached the judgement room and as always, people were there to witness.

They placed me in a single table as I waited for the guardians. Slowly, the court was being filled with spectators. Soon after them, the guardians began taking their seats. They looked at me, their gazes filled with pride and unwavering.

"Qerinza Dexorio, you are here because of the rule you violated. You have shown yourself to a mortal and that is truly unacceptable!"

Well that I know. Do you really have to tell every single people here in this room of a fault I clearly know of? Almost everyone here knows what I've done. There's no need to say it again.

"Do you know the consequences of your immature actions?"

"Of course I do. That has been taught to every student in Decolinate High. 'Torture or banishment' blah blah blah. I'm honestly very bored. Please tell me something I don't know."

Everyone in the room gasped out in shock. Some even shook their heads in dissapointment.

"You are not allowed to talk back to the guardian!"

I grit my teeth in annoyance. God is there anything else going to come out of their mouths? Something other than 'consequences' or 'rules'?

"Qerinza Dexorio, we have decided to.....

Banish you from this world."

Well I'm fucked. I knew this was going to happen anyway.
