TRIGGER WARNING: ATTEMPTED RAPE SCENE!!!
=============

     It had been five years since I was nearly shredded by hell hounds and dragged off to damnation. Not a single day have I seen Lucifer though. I can't even feel his presence. It's like after he made the deal, he completely shut me out. I considered summing him again, which I did attempt, but no one showed. So I stopped trying.

     I was now independent. Leading my life to the fullest. Or, the fullest it could get. I had a girlfriend whom I loved, but something was still missing.
===========

I walked into the art studio, it was late Sunday afternoon, I had just got back from break. Things weren't going too miserable. They were actually going great. My girlfriend stopped by to say hello and hang out for a bit as I painted.

"How are things going today hun?"

"Ah same old same old. Paint, brushes, water, and a canvas. How are things at the office?"

"Well, the boss finally retired to Colorado and they are looking for a new manager since the replacement broke his whole body playing basketball."

"Sounds exciting."

"Not exactly, but hey, I get payed the same."

We had a modest apartment in New York City. Which, conveniently, is only a street away from my studio, and about 5 minutes from my girlfriends office building.

She left me to my own devices and I continued working.

This painting meant a lot to me. I'd be using it as an example piece for the shop. It was of my first friend.

My phone alarm went off letting me know that the work day was finally over. I packed up my stuff and started to walk home.

New York isn't the safest place normally, add nighttime and it's even worse. I should of thought about that before walking alone at 12:00 at night. Sunday's were always the day I worked late, but I usually had someone walk with me. Not this time.

I stepped out the door and locked it up. I started walking home when I felt eyes on me. I payed no attention to it. Lots of people walked around a night. It's New York not Alaska. People were abundant and it's not rare to be 'followed' on the streets.

   Despite this, I walked faster. Subconsciously, I mean. I didn't notice till I got to my building.

   I buzzed in and went upstairs. My girlfriend had the late shift, so I'd be home alone for about 3 hours. I was going to bed soon, so it wasn't like I would really notice.

   I walked in my apartment and set my stuff down. I sighed. It had been a long day. I still couldn't shake the lonely feeling. Sure, I had my girlfriend, whom I loved, but I still felt empty. I knew there was something missing, and I knew what that was, but I couldn't get that.

   I decided to make some dinner instead of dwelling. I turned on Shane Dawson and then cracked open the fridge.

    "Mmm, eggs, bacon, expensive steak, or store bought precooked chicken?"

     I went with the store bought stuff. For $6, it wasn't that bad. It was actually pretty good. Better than I could make anyway.

    I put the chicken out on the couch, then I went to get into my pjs. It was the middle of June so I just had a light Tee and some shorts on. The chicken was cold just how I liked it. My girlfriend didn't really understand that, she liked hot meals better. We usually found a good compromise.
