Annabeth's POV
Camp Half-Blood
It's time.
Time to tell the story of the man I love.
The man we all betrayed.
Almost everyone arrived before dinner along with the Gods to remember our hero. Now it's time to relive all of the good and bad memories.
"Welcome everyone to the remembrance of the fallen hero, Perseus Jackson," Chiron said with sad eyes on stage. "Now we will all hear the heroes story from those who knew him." Grover and I stand and head for the stage and head over with our heads down.
Grover wasn't here when Percy was betrayed so he blames himself for what happened more than anyone else.
When we arrive on stage Grover starts talking.
"Percy Jackson wasn't always the savior of Olympus, he was my best friend. I first met Percy when he was 12 years old. Everyone thought he was troubled because he had gotten expelled from every school he ever attended." Every Demigod smiled knowing even the greatest hero in Greek/Roman history had the same problem they did.
"I met Percy at the start of 6th grade at Yancy Academy. He would often protect me from bullies which I have always grateful for. During a field trip to a museum, Percy was annoyed by the school bully, Nancy Bobofit, after she intimidating me. out of rage, he accidentally summoned water from a nearby fountain to pull her in, but he didn't know how he'd done it." I look over at Grover and smile. He had a smile on his face probably remembering that moment before he continued.
"Mrs. Dodds, our pre-algebra teacher, witnesses everything and told Percy to follow her for a "talk." Suddenly, she turned into the Alecto, and attacked him." The campers who didn't know this story gasped in disbelief. That's when Chiron starts to speak.
"When Grover arrived at Yancy Academy he contacted me immediately telling me he had picked up on a strong Demigod sent, so I went to investigate. While there I became Mr. Brunner. I agreed with Grover and decided to keep an eye on him, so I became one of Percy's teachers. I came in to see the Alecto and throw Percy a pen. While in midair, the pen transformed into Riptide." Everyone but the Gods, me, and the rest of the immortal campers stare with wide eyes. They all started whispering in disbelief, probably already know some of the histories of the sword.
"Using his natural instincts, Percy used Riptide to kill Mrs. Dodds. However, when he returned to the bus, he asks his classmates about Mrs. Dodds, but nobody remembered Mrs. Dodds." Chiron said then turned to look at Grover who quickly looked away. "Although, when Percy asked Grover, Grover said he remembers her too."
"At the bus stop, I saw the three Fates looking at Percy while knitting giant socks." Grover starts. Everyone even some of the immortal camps starred in disbelief. They had never been told this. "After a while, they snip the string of life they had. Later in the year, he went home on his own, even though I asked him to wait for me at the bus stop. He arrived at his home to see his horrible step-dad and his friends playing poker. After Gabe, his step-dad yelled at him, Percy's mother, Sally, arrived home and tells Percy they were going to his favorite beach in for the whole weekend." I smiled knowing he was probably jumping for joy to get away from Smelly Gabe. Seaweed Brain. I then looked over everyone else and saw Poseidon smiling with tears falling from his red eyes.
