The stepbrother

Chapter 1

Ben's P.O.V.

Today my mother and I are moving into my stepdad's house with his children. Most of our stuff is already at their house, but we just a few boxes to move. My stepdad's name is Brock and he has two daughters and two sons. His oldest daughter's name is Raelynn or Rae for short and she's 17. His other daughters name is Isabelle or Izzy and she's 16. His oldest son's name is Griffin or Griff, and he's 19. His other son's name is Lennon and he's 14. I get along really well with Griff, Izzy and Rae but not with Lennon. We're moving into Brock's house because it's bigger and because we're building a new house to accommodate our now family of seven. Although Griffin lives farther away, he comes down for the summer and a few long weekends throughout the year.

My mom and I drove to Brock's house and got out. We went to the door and my mom knocked on it.
"Hey honey. Hey Ben." Brock greeted as he opened the door.
"Hey." I replied as we walking into the house.
"So where are the kids?" Mom asked.
"Raelynn's at work and Lennon's at a friend house, but they'll be back later. But Izzy and Griff are home." Brock answered.
We nodded and Brock said "Ben can you go get Griff and ask him to come down here please? He's upstairs in Lenn's room."
I nodded and went upstairs.
I went to Lennon's room and saw Griffin playing video games in there.
"Hey." I said as I sat next to him on the couch.
"Hey Bean. What's up man?" He asked as he paused the game.
"Not much. Brock wants you to come downstairs." I answered.
"Sweet." He replied and stood up.
"Hey, want to go scare Izzy first?" He asked.
"Sure." I answered.

We quietly walked to Izzy's room and her door was open. She was facing away from the door and looking at her phone.
Griffin and I quietly walked into her room and jumped on her bed scaring her.
"Ahh! Oh my God! Griffin, you ass!" She exclaimed.
He laughed and she said "I'm gonna kill you!"
"Run Ben Run!" Griffin said and we ran downstairs.

Izzy didn't follow us and Brock asked "Griffin can you help Ben get the boxes out of the van please?"
"Sure. Come on Ben." Griffin answered.
We went outside and Griffin said "So you're sharing a room with Lenny until the new house gets built."
"But doesn't Lennon hate me?" I asked.
"Lenny doesn't hate you. He just doesn't know you very well. Not that he's made an effort to. He doesn't really like little kids that much." Griffin answered as we grabbed some boxes.
I nodded and we brought the boxes up to Lennon's room and Griffin said "Since Lenny and I used to share this room, there are two dressers and two closets. You get the dresser on the right and the closet on the right."
I nodded and he helped me put my clothes away.

"So when are you going back to school?" I asked.
"Well since school starts in one week, probably next Sunday." He answered.
I nodded and asked him "Where are you sleeping?"
"The couch." He answered pointing to the couch in our room.
I nodded and Griffin asked me "Do you want to go play soccer?"
"Sure." I answered.

We went outside to the backyard and started playing soccer. After playing soccer for an hour, we finished the game and I won 7-5. We went back inside and Brock said "It's time for lunch. Griffin can you please go get Izzy?"
Griffin nodded and went upstairs. He returned a few minutes later with Izzy trailing behind him.
"So kids, the new house will be done in October. Isn't that exciting?" Mom asked.
"Yeah. I'll finally have my own room. I've always had to share with Lennon." Griffin answered.
"And we're getting a pool. It's gonna be so good for summer." Izzy said.
"Yeah. Super fun." Brock replied.
"Dad I'm going out on a date with Paisley so I won't be here for dinner." Griffin said.
Paisley is Griffin's long time girlfriend. They've been dating since sophomore year.
"I think Raelynn is going on a date with Aiden tonight." Izzy said.
"Okay. So I guess it will just be Abby, Ben, you and I for dinner." Brock replied.
"Actually dad, I was wondering if I could go shopping with Sierra tonight?" Izzy asked.
"Sure. Just be home by 9 o'clock." He answered.
"Awesome! Thanks dad." Izzy smiled.
"No problem, sweetie." He replied.
