“Belle!” There is grunting and I can hear the violence out side as all the guys struggle to kill the zombie. My screaming has probably attracted more zombies. The door thumps and soon there is nothing. My ears ring making me feel like I am going to pass out. I stumble for a moment before I fall to my hands and knees wheezing. I think I am having an asthma attack, I haven’t had one since I was four. “Belle?” The door slowly opens and I collapse onto my side wheezing for air. “Belle!” They all rush to my sides once again bloodied and sweat dripping off of them.

“What is happening?”

“She is having an asthma attack. We cant wait here any longer we have to go back to the barrier.” Veil presses on my neck feeling my heart pressure. “Belle just calm down.” He continues to press on my neck then he starts trying to breath to help calm me down. But I almost got eaten by a damn zombie! One of my babies died today as well! Of course I would have an asthma attack.

“We cant, we are almost out of gas and its dark out, they are active at night.” Carl starts to flip causing me to take shallower breaths and causing my head to spin.

“Everyone out now and go scope out the house better.” My hand scratches at my throat trying to breathe. They all scurry out leaving Veil and I alone. “Come on just breathe, in and out. Just follow me, in and out.” He takes a giant breath in and out through his nose and out of his mouth. I try following his lead but its just too hard for me. He keeps encouraging me to breathe. “I know you can do it.” I take a giant breathe in then out, its shaky but its working. He gets a small smile then I do it again. It soon becomes normaler than it was before. “Good just keep going and tell me what is going on? What is wrong?” He helps me into a sitting position and holds me close.

“I-I was in over my head coming out here. But I do need to go back and get it if it is still there. I just need a good and safe sleep.” He carefully helps me up and back down the short and narrow stairs over the now completely dead zombie.

“Okay now I really do want you to take a really nice long rest. You have to have it. We will take shifts so nothing gets in and that you are okay. I will monitor the baby throughout the night."All the guys are washing themselves in the sink and he lays me down on the nice comfortable couch. My nerves are rattled and my pulse is racing while I watch the ceiling turn and stars appear above me. What has this world come to? What has happened to us? Was it cause all of the pollution? I have to know and I will start tomorrow. I will write a book about everything these things do. How they react to the different seasons. Every single thing.

“Thank you for saving me.” My eyes droop wanting to sleep desperately. I don’t wait for an answer before I completely envelope in the sleep.

Veil POV

            ####

At the hospital we found more survivors, three scientists and a little girl. I know she was freaked when I told her that there were people watching, because there were and they were planning on killing us before we disappeared through the heating vents and taking her. They have experimented on women to get them pregnant and all have failed and ended up somehow infecting the mother but Bell’s baby didn’t, it survived other than the fact of the other baby. I am concerned about the baby that the miscarriage one somehow is going to infect Belle and her baby.

“Veil? The groups are growing, we are trapped here. We probably won’t be able to leave for a couple of days and we don’t have her medicine or much food left. This water is contaminated so we cant drink it. We need to go somewhere else. Her scream attracted a lot in the area.” James starts to freak out; he isn’t good with a gun or small spaces. Why in the hell would they assign me to him?

“Kill the lights and shut the hell up okay? Do not wake her, like I said trying to save her baby.”

“Why do you even care anymore? It’s not like you will have a chance with her?”

“I enjoyed my work okay? Trying to save her baby and enjoy seeing she is bringing life into the world is magnificent.”

“Yeah, yeah now everyone shut up.” Carl stands by the boarded window and watches the zombies pass or come up the porch to the door trying to get in.

“Guys they doubled in size, there are about a hundred out there, we are not going to make it. They are going to tare down the house.”

“They are only going to do that if you all don’t shut the hell up!” My whisper is loud and I guess I got the point across because no one made another sound. This was a horrible idea coming in the first place, and everyone knows when a girl gets scared they scream. The doors and windows rattle harder, the walls are banged on, their moaning is more like taunting hunger calls. My heart is beating faster and my whole body is frozen. This is reality, zombies are my reality, we are all going to turn.

The house creaks and groans wanting to give up its support and cave in. The floor boards are slightly being lifted and I can hear them underneath us. All of us look at each other and jump to all the floor boards that are trying to be lifted and we stomp on them keeping them down. This house is so old and its going to cave in on us any second. I look over to Belle who is sleeping peacefully. How the hell can she sleep through this? I can hardly hear myself think. A zombie breaks on of the windows and sticks his hands through the cracks of the boards.
