Not much occurred over the next few months. Upon our return to Cinnar, Master Griffonhowl decided to ease back on the daily physical training. He explained that all apprentices around my age still have classes similar to what I had before coming to train. I tried to protest, but he snapped telling me to remember my place. He had been grouchy ever since his mother's funeral where his father started a fight. I quickly obeyed and when I can be back the next day I groaned. The classroom was similar to my old school, and the Aeon teaching reminded me of my former teacher.
The days crawled by when I say in class, but every other day I got to train with Master Griffonhowl for an hour after classes. I hoped he would help me figure out of I was a Holy or Lightning Pahtan. He said I still had a way to go to control my zidici first.
I learned a couple more sword forms during this time. Falcon Striking Swiftly, where I swing diagonally up from the ground and then swing out. Master Griffonhowl said this helps to decapitate an opponent. I wish I had learned it against the undead. The second form had three movements. First I swung at my opponent's chest, then send it towards a thigh, and finally swing up at their wrist. This was called Humble Bear Claw. I asked who came up with the names and Master Griffonhowl laughed.
With every passing day, life seemed peaceful. I continued to increase my skill with the five sword forms, learning to not only chain each one together, but to perform than in a mirrored way. I remembered switching things up against the large masked man helped out.
Then the dreams with Drez returned. The same dream played out berserk two to three times a week. Each time the dream begins with me in Drez's arms as he rushed through a field with grass up to his waist. The ground trembled, and I looked up to see an army of Kupmehs close behind. I screamed out at the beasts trampled the grass as they chased us.
Drez cursed add he leaped into the air, curving to face them. I felt a chill before lightning shot out hitting a dozen. Drez landed and let out a wince. I looked at him, and he looked truly worn and beaten. His bones poked out against his skin. Dark circles surrounded his eyes. I wondered how long it has been done he ate or slept. Sweat poured down his face sad he took a second before running.
A red light shined from the distance, and I looked towards the source. Off in the distance, a high walled city stood with a giant garnet rising to the sky. I knew right away that the city I saw had to be Cinnar.
This brought questions I never thought at eleven years old I would have to think about. If these dreams are memories what happened to Drez? How did I end up with my parents? Never in my life had they mentioned not bring my birth parents.
Drez continued to race across the field towards Cinnar. The city walls grew larger, and the idea that he would reach Cinnar increased until bones rose up from the ground like spikes. He skidded to a halt and dove to the side as a volley of fire arrows rained down. Drez got back to his feet as two Knights of Edith appeared. One was from the Ehvanhuramm, and the other had gray trim, a Taydrckywa.
The Ehvanhuramm Knight spoke first. "This is the end of the road for you Drez. You and your filthy demon child will die here today."
"Olin," Drez said drawing his greatsword, "Midreah couldn't stop me so what mashes you think you can?"
"You are a shell of the warrior you once were." Olin laughed. "We have been watching you for weeks. You have barely slept and all the food you have managed to scavenge you gave to him. Your body will not survive a battle, whether you kill us or not."
"We shall see about that."
Olin laughed and rushed forward. Drez held his ground and brought his greatsword up blocking a strike from Olin's greatsword. Drez's speed had slowed from the last dream. Olin managed to slip his blade passed Drez's defenses citing across his upper arm near me. I screamed add the blade closed in and that caused a growl to come from Drez as I saw a fire light up in his eyes.
