When I got inside, I was surrounded by my parents who were overwhelmed with concern.
"Thank goodness. You're back. We were so worried about you. We thought something bad happened to you. Where have you been?" My mom said while engulfing me in a hug.
"I-uh well you see-"
" that doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are home safe. Now go upstairs to bed it's late."
I went up the stairs, knowing that I had dodged a bullet back there.
*the next morning*
I woke up the next morning and the realization of the last few days hit me like a ton of bricks.
My door swung open to reveal my mom. "Your dad and I are going to the beach. Would you like to go with us?"
After what happened yesterday I decided not to.
"Um. No thanks. Is there anything else I could do around here?"
"Well you could go to the pool. Or there's a carnival a block away."
"Ok I might do that. Can you leave the car?" I said groggily with a smile. She nodded and left the room.
Like 15 minutes later, I was dressed and ready to go. I was going to go to the pool first then the carnival. And that is what I did. An hour later after I went to the pool. I went back to my room and took a shower. I grabbed my hipster bag with some money in it and the keys to the rental car and headed out.
Even if it was only a block, I wasn't taking any chances after what happened. I drove the short ride over to the carnival.
Upon arrival, I got a wristband and went in. I looked around in awe as I saw how many rides and games there were.
I walked around for about an hour playing different games. Until I got to the milk carton toss game. Whatever it's called where you throw a ball at the milk bottles. Anyway, I got there, payed the money and got the balls. As I brought my arm back to throw, I noticed a familiar face behind the man running the game. I shook my head thinking that there was no way that it could be him. I took my turn and 2 throws later, I won a big stuffed panda.
I walked around for another hour or so before deciding to call it a night. I walked back to my car and climbed into the driver's seat. Glancing into the mirror above the dashboard, I saw a man in the backseat. Quickly I turned around and saw no one. I quickly dismissed it thinking that I wad just tired and seeing things.
Five minutes later, I arrived at home to find my parents asleep, cuddling on the couch together.
Aw. I thought. As I placed a blanket on top of them. I went to my room got ready for bed and went straight to sleep.
