Chap 27
Two years later.
“Whoop!” I yelled. “We did it!” I hugged Jake, Caroline, Cassie and Richard, in a group hug. “School is OVER!” “Hell ya!” Jake yelled making me laugh. “That’s my job done with.” He told our group with his stupid smirk on his face. We all looked at him. “What you talking about ex-jock?” Richard laughed. “Well, All through the years, I have made you laugh, gave you hugs and make damn sure I laugh at all your mistakes!” We all hit him with our grad hats laughing. We did it. We made it through school. We waved good bye and all promised to meet up at Seth’s party later.
I walked up to the boys and told them I was leaving and to tell Josh were I was going. Josh had finished school last year and bought an apartment over the previous summer.
I walked into the graveyard and knelt down beside the head stone. “Well, I’ve done it. Schools out. I got accepted to oxford and I’m going in a year. I miss you so much Dad.” A tear slipped down my face. The night, two years ago when I saw Tristan in Josh’s body, my father was in a car crash. Mom hasn’t really been the same since; she blanks out a lot and is distant. I lost so much that night but gained true love. Josh was human, and for that I’m glad. I parted ways with my father’s tomb stone glancing back once more to read the stone again. ‘Kenneth Feint. 1971-2012. A loving husband and the best Dad. Even in a different jungle you’re the king tiger.’
Josh opened the door ready and waiting in his suit. He looked good with his hair gelled back and parted to the side. I went up to my room for a shower and spotted my floor length dark green dress that brought out my eyes and it was also Dad’s favourite colour. He bought it and put it in my wardrobe before he died. After my warm shower, I applied light make up and curled my hair, putting it up in an elegant bun with some curls hanging down. I got changed into my dress and went down to the kitchen. “Wow!” Josh said standing up from leaning against the island. “You look perfect or beautiful or all of the above and more!” he stuttered out. I laughed at him shaking my head. You okay there?” “Yeah, shit this is harder than I thought.” He laughed nervously tucking at the back of his head. “Josh is something wrong?” “Brook, I love you. I always have. You are the most beautiful girl in the world and would you please do the honour of staying by my side, forever?” he knelt on the ground and pulled out a ring and said “Marry me Brook?” “Yes Josh. I’ll marry you” I laughed and kissed him. I couldn’t shake thoughts frim my head like do I really love him? Did I want to marry him?
We left for the dinner after the graduation mass. The hall looked amazing! Caroline and Cassie had forced me into decorating it with them and I swear to God I can’t stand the sight of balloons now! It was a long three weeks of her screaming orders at us. “Hey!” I said poking Daìthì who was sitting on a chair by himself looking depressed. The boy fell hard but Zach was Anna’s everything and when he came back a matter of months ago poor Daìthì found out the hard way. He even bought a promise ring for tonight though he’d never use it. “I had to let her go. She’d never love me like she loves him.” He sighed. I gave him a small smile. “Will I ever see you again after tonight?” I asked him. Daìthì beamed at me. “Of course! You’ll never be rid of me!” I smiled and hugged him. He pulled back my hand and let out a low whistle. “Nice” “Yeah” I sighed. “You don’t love him do you?” “No.” I said quietly looking at the hall again. There were white drapes all around the walls and white and grey balloons strung up. The disco ball was making the white go a pink and light purple colour. “The first dance is coming u soon.” Daìthì said catching my attention. “Yup” I sighed. “Come on!” Daìthì jumped up and grabbed my hand and lead me outside. “You’ll thank me later!” he winked at me and ran back inside closing the doors shut behind him and then he locked them. He is DEAD the next time I see his stupid face. The first song was blaring out. It was holding out for a Hero the country version from the remake of footloose. The one Tristan and I had danced to in my house four years ago. I sighed and started singing along. ‘Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods? Where’s the street wise Hercules’
