Chap 28
Josh’s POV
“Goodbye Brook.” I kissed her cheek one last time before those deadly words. “Mind her Tristan.” I said sadly trying my best to block out the sound of her tears. “Of course man.” Tristan said shaking my hand. We both knew that this was for the best, although trying to convince her was gonna be hard. She’s just too stubborn for her own good. Still I loved her and leaving her again will be hard. I never wanted to leave her before. So I got with that slut, what was her name? Jessica? Ronnie? Rebecca? Meh whatever but I needed Brook to forget me. I couldn’t risk hurting her. “Wait? You knew he was alive?” she asked. The agony in her voice was ripping my heart out. “Yes, we wanted to see if you could live a normal life but there’s no escaping your soul mate. For the record Brook, I’ve always loved you.” “I loved you too Josh.” “But not as much as Tristan.” Hearing her say my name made my knees weak. “Not as much as Tristan.” She confirmed. That killed me. I gave her a last hug and walked out of the hall that was starting to close in on me. I went outside and leaped into a tree. “Josh, wait! The ring!” I heard her yell from up here I was sitting I could see her walk up and down searching for me. Look up! I nudged her but to no avail as she walked back inside and hugged Tristan. Tears of both grief and joy streamed down her face.
I watched her the rest of the night. She soon forgot about me and started setting everyone up. I laughed at poor Daìthì’s face. Tristan spotted me and mouthed a thank you. I remembered Tylor telling me that after the break up Tristan jumped in front of a train, and ended up denting the train. I still laughed through my tears at the thought.
I jumped down and looked at the full moon. Bad luck always on my side I thought darkly. I stepped out of my skin and ran to my new life. Where ever that may be. I just left my mind take over and hopefully my paws will take me far away. The best thing about being a wolf. No memories.
