''Yami, I can explain-''
''Don't bother,'' I said as I released my grip, dropping him to the ground. ''The deal's off.''
Marik pushed himself up to his feet. ''But Yami-''
''I said, the deal's off.''
I went to reach for the doorknob before I felt a hand wrap around my ankle, yanking me down onto the cold floor.
Footsteps echoed throughout the small room as Marik stepped cautiously by. I watched as he reached for the door and slowly opened it before turning back to see me.
''Fine then, Yami. I'll do this without you.''
He slammed the door behind him, locking it. I let out a slight gasp before I heard a phone ringing outside.
''Hey, Bakura?'' The teen mumbled slyly into the phone. ''The deal's off.''
I got up slowly and glanced around the dark room. There was a light switch, but no luck - the fuse must've been out, go figure. I pulled out my phone, using the flashlight as a last resort. Even so, there was nothing useful in sight - no hammers, keys, or anything besides cleaning supplies.
''Fuck..'' I whispered to myself, sliding against a wall. How on Earth was I supposed to get myself out of this one? The only people who'd bother to help me are Téa and Miho, and I'd rather not deal with them - they're already annoying during school as is.
I stared at my dimmed phone screen, hoping for answers, but nothing came. All I could do now was sit and play my games.
Games.
I quickly began searching, typing away on my phone in hopes of finding the number.
''Here,'' I uttered in relief as I let the phone ring beside my ear.
''Hello? This is Yami Sennen. Could you put Yugi on the phone?''

September 9th, 2004,
I sat on the edge of my bed, kicking my legs in boredom as bird songs echoed through my room. Suddenly, my door swung open, shocking me as I looked over. It was my grandpa, and he looked fairly worried.
''It's for you,'' He whispered as he handed me the phone.
''Who is it?''
''Yami.''
I watched the phone, hearing slight mumbles escape it as my grandpa walked off. I could just end the call right now - In fact, I was more than entitled to. But then I thought - why would Yami, the most worshipped kid in our class, be calling me? It certainly wasn't to apoloogize - he had that chance earlier.
''Hello?'' I mumbled into the phone curiously.
''Yugi, is that you?''
I twiddled my fingers around as I sighed. ''The one and only.''
''Yugi, I really need your help.''
''With what, your homework? What happened to all your servants, hmm?''
I heard a slight gasp over the phone. ''What? No, Y-yugi, please-''
