I flew for a while. But then it started to rain. I flew down and landed in a forest grove. It was sort of odd. There was an old piano and other old junk. There was a bed, so I layed Mycket down. I sat on the ground.
And then I cried.
So much had happened in the last few hours. Mycket lost his wing. The whole Jack thing. I couldn't even think about Jack. He betrayed his own friends. He didn't tell us anything. I was so mad. I hit the ground with my fist. It cracked, I must have shapeshifted into something strong.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Lindy, are you okay?" It was Mycket.
"No, and you're asking me? I should be asking you if you're okay."
"I'm okay, It just hurts a lot. But it will grow back, not completely so I'll still have some trouble, but I'll be okay. Nari is going to kill the king when she finds out."
"Is there something between you two?" I don't know why I asked that.
"Maybe. She likes me, I can read her mind. But I don't know if I do. I think I like her, but i'm so bad at figuring out my own emotions."
"Does Litranara like you?" I also don't know why I asked that.
"No, she's super flirtatious though."
"Oh." There was a sort of awkward silence.
"Does my wing look bad? Or where it used to be at least." He tried to look back, but grimaced in pain. I looked at his shoulder. It was just a nub of a wing, with dried blood on it.
"It has dried blood on it, but it's not that bad." He half-smiled.
"At least I'm not dead. I thought I was going to die. I was terrified."
"I thought you were going to die too. I was scared for you. I saw the axe slam down and I screamed. There was blood, and your wing was on the ground."
"You were the one that screamed? That was the last thing I heard before I blacked out. What happened after that?"
"I shapeshifted and became this gigantic dragon. I picked you up and burst through the window. I flew until it started raining. So I stopped here."
Then the piano played a note. We both turned our heads towards it. There was a centaur. He looked at us.
"Well isn't that a sad story." He said.
"Yeah, what do you want." Mycket stood up. The centaur looked at where the wing was gone.
"What did you do to lose your wing?"
"I ran away with a dragon, who had no powers." A look of curiosity crossed the centaur's face.
"Is your name Mycket?" Mycket nodded. The centaur gasped, "You can end the war. You're here. Why haven't they stopped fighting? How come no one knows?" He started to ramble.
"Wait, what war?" Mycket asked.
"There is a war, that's been going on as long as you've been gone. Mainly between the dragons and fairies, but others have gotten involved. Chroma was believed to be part fairy, along with dragon. The dragons blamed her fairy side for taking you."
"Oh, we have to end it now."
"Follow me. I'm Carnelian by the way."
So, I was inspired to write this book because I got a five dollar dragon ring that was golden. That's where Mycket's character came from. In real life the wing of the ring fell off and that's why Mycket's wing was cut in the book.
