The monster returned to his home from his murder spree drenched in blood. He was delighted to see that his human had laid down and fallen asleep on the floor, not run off as the monster had anticipated. The monster smiled as he quietly tiptoed over to Tord. He had never been so close to a sleeping human before; It was fascinating.
The monster was surprised when Tord rolled over in his sleep, and latched onto his tail, hugging it. The monster barked at Tord, and quickly ripped his tail from the human's grasp, somehow not waking him in the process.
The monster could hear Tord making soft noises in his sleep, so he experimentally poked the human's cheek with the tip of his tail. He was extra careful not to hit him with the purple spikes on the end of his tail, since he didn't want to disturb Tord all that much.
This time, when Tord wrapped his arms around the monster's tail again, the monster didn't pull it away. Instead, he quietly watched the sleeping human mumble things in his sleep. The monster was surprised, as he didn't know humans were even capable of dreaming. Again, this was his first time around a sleeping human.
A thin line of drool dripped from Tord's mouth and onto the monster's tail, which he promptly pulled away. The only bodily fluids the monster was okay with having on him was blood, and nothing else. The moment he pulled away, however, Tord then latched onto the monster's leg instead. The monster growled and shook his leg, trying to get the human off of him.
"Mm... don't leave... me..." Tord murmured in his sleep, hugging the monster's leg tighter. Upon hearing Tord's sleep-talk, the monster ceased trying to get the human off his leg. Instead, he quietly watched Tord sleep, since it was the monster's first time being so close to a human that wasn't screaming in terror, or just a mangled corpse.
As Tord fell deeper into his slumber, his grip on the monster's leg loosened until it was almost nonexistent. The monster noticed this, and gently pulled his leg away from Tord. He looked down at the softly snoring human, simply observing him.
Then, the monster decided to lay down on the floor beside Tord, and curl up close to his chest. The monster purred and closed his eyes, then gently fell asleep beside the human.
...
The monster woke the next morning, rolling onto his back and stretching his limbs with a massive yawn. He'd almost completely forgotten about the human, who was still fast asleep beside him. The monster reached up and playfully swatted at Tord's cheek, trying to wake him up.
No response. The monster frowned and let out a small whine as he tried again. This time, Tord woke up with a squeal and flailed his arms, trying to fend off his mystery attacker. The monster stared over at Tord, who was making a complete idiot of himself.
Finally, Tord realized it was only the strange monster that had woken him up. "...What the hell..?" He grunted at the monster, then rolled over and closed his eyes to try to go back to sleep. The monster was having none of Tord's behaviour, so he reached over and swatted the human once again.
In return, Tord reached back and slapped the monster across the face. He just wanted another few minutes of sleep. Unfortunately, Tord's wish wasn't granted, as the now growling monster was angered by being slapped, and slashed at Tord's face with his claws fully extended.
Pain immediately engulfed Tord's right eye, making him scream and cover his eye with his hands. The monster stood up, still growling, and not at all phased by Tord's screams. He was use to being surrounded by terrified humans, after all.
"Your damn well lucky that I like you, Human!" The monster hissed, baring his teeth at the pained human. Tord just laid on the floor and continued screaming. "Shut up!" The monster ordered him. "It's a scratch."
Tord slowly stood up and moved his hands away from his face, revealing a lot of blood, which pooled on the floor and dripped down his hands.
"You'll be fine." The monster said, waving his hand dismissively at the bleeding human. "Humans heal fast, right?"
Tord couldn't hold in his pained sobs any longer. Blood and tears mixed in his eyes, and slid down his cheeks. Seeing the human cry only angered the monster more. Humans were such weak creature.
"It's a scratch." The monster repeated, crossing his arms and staring daggers into Tord's skull. "You shot me in the eye, but you don't see me crying and complaining." He reminded the human with a scoff.
"H-how does it look..?" Tord dared to ask the monster as he made his way over to him and showed him his eye. The monster leaned his head in close to Tord, to inspect the human's injured eye.
"Hm. Do humans necessarily need two eyes to live?" The monster answered, narrowing his eyes at Tord's injuries.
"...No..? Why..?"
"I think I may have hit your eye directly... there's a lot of blood..."
"WHAT?!"
"It's fine, you still have the other eye." The monster scoffed.
Tord suddenly felt very lightheaded. He felt his heartbeat quicken, and his breaths speed up, with Tord being unable to slow it back down. He needed his eyes. There was no way a monster just destroyed one of them, right? Tord thought he must just be having a nightmare. Any moment, and he'd wake up at home in bed.
"Hey, hey, calm down, Human..." The monster said as his ears picked up the sounds of Tord hyperventilating. "It's okay. You'll be okay." He said, trying his best to calm Tord down using the little knowledge he had of human emotions and feelings.
Tord noticed a dark border around his vision, or at least what he could see with his one eye. He felt like he was going to fall over. Correction, Tord was falling over, so the monster reached out to catch him. Tord managed to slap the monster a few times before he lost consciousness.
The monster, not pleased with being slapped again, immediately dropped Tord and let him fall to the floor, where the human laid unmoving in a crumpled ball. He had no desire to help someone who didn't want his help.
