[A/N: Oh wow, an UPDATE!? Still on Hiatus, but y'all deserve an update since the last one was like 3 months ago lol]

After an hour and a half of running, Tom finally found where Tord was hiding. Well, he wasn't really hiding per se, more like he was just lounging in a tree, looking up at clouds in the mid-day sky. The monster let out a massive roar, which startled Tord.

"O-oh... Hi..." Tord awkwardly greeted a glaring Tom. He swung his legs back and forth over the branch they were dangling over.

Tom reached up and rested his hands on the branch, then his chin on his hands. He stared at Tord, silently asking the human what the fuck his problem was.

Tord tensed up and closed his eye, prepared for the monster to bite his leg off or something equally as deadly. Maybe he'd take his other eye? His whole head? Who knew?

However, to Tord's utmost surprise, he felt something warm, large, and furry nuzzle into his chest. He opened his eyes, and was met by Tom's dog-esque head in his lap.

Tord smiled, and couldn't help but pet the purring monster. He silently wondered why Tom wasn't mad at him about the whole rock thing, but Tord wasn't complaining as long as all of him was still in one piece.

Tom wasn't actually sure why he wasn't ripping Tord limp from limb either... he'd just suddenly gotten an overwhelming urge to nuzzle the human. Tom's glee of being with Tord shifted his body back to it's half human form, so now he was cuddled up to Tord on the tree branch.

Tord put an arm around Tom's shoulders, who in turn hugged the human and wrapped his tail around his torso. Tom purred happily from being so close to Tord, although he wasn't sure why it made him feel so happy.

"You love me. You definitely love me." Tord pointed out, petting the monster with his free hand.

"N-no, I just find you really interesting..." Tom stuttered. Like hell would he ever let himself fall in love with such a weak creature like a human.

"Believe that as much as you want, Tom..."

"Then I'll believe it 110%." Tom said, nuzzling his head against Tord's shoulder.

"S-seriously, you are madly in love with me..." Tord said, feeling rather uncomfortable with the situation.

"Well I think humans must show love differently than my kind. Cuddling and purring is just a neutral action between two or more friends." Tom explained, still purring.

Suddenly, Tord got a very interesting idea. He looked down at Tom and smirked.

"It's a good thing you don't love me, because I've already found my soulmate." Tord lied.

Tom's ears twitched at the mention of a "soulmate". "Really..?" He asked, tilting his head to look up at Tord.

"Yup." Tord answered. "He's amazing and we are just destined to be together." He fabricated, feeling pretty smug about it.

"...Is that so..?" Tom asked, absentmindedly tightening his hug around Tord.

"We complete each other, and I wouldn't trade him for the world." Tord explained, and couldn't help but smile a little.

"...Humans don't mate for life, do they?" Tom asked, again tightening his grip.

"No, but I feel like he and I have. Why do you ask?" Tord asked, raising an eyebrow at the obviously jealous monster.

Tom let a low growl and once again held Tord tighter.

"Tom, you're crushing me. I can't breath." Tord informed Tom and squirmed under the monster's intense grip.

Tom immediately loosened his grip around Tord, but didn't stop hugging the human.

"Why are you so upset, Tom?" Tord asked with a smug smile, already knowing the answer.

"I'm not upset." Tom lied with a pout. He continued clinging to Tord like a lovesick child.

"Really? You're sure acting like you're upset." Tord teased the half-monster.

"Am not."

"Are too."

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"I'm NOT!" Tom growled.

"...Do you love me?" Tord asked, glancing down at Tom, who had his ears folded back.

A pink tint washed over Tom's cheeks at Tord's question. No. There was no way in hell he was in love with a human. But it seemed like Tom's heart held different thoughts than his mind. "M-maybe..." He finally answered.

So the monster's truth finally came out. "I was actually just lying about that whole "soulmate" thing to piss you off." Tord admitted, and received a displeased grunt from Tom.

"...You're not going to drag me back to your home and force me to love you now, are you?" Tord asked, a little worried that that was exactly what Tom was going to do.

"No, I don't think humans like that very much. Do they?" Tom asked, genuinely curious.

"...No, they do not." Tord confirmed, furrowing his brows. He let out a deep sigh. "I hate you."

"Do you really? You were petting me earlier." Tom pointed out with a sly grin.

"Only because you're like a pet!" Tord sputtered quickly. "Wait... does that mean I'm your pet human?"

Tom thought about it for a quick moment. "Yes. But I promise not to keep you in a cage." He said, wagging his tail happily.

Tord wrapped his arms around the monster, who began purring loudly. "Are we going back to your home, now?"

"I kind of want to see where you live." Tom said between purrs.

"You destroyed my home when you rampaged through my city. All my friends and family are probably dead... I have nothing left." Tord said, a hint of sorrow in his voice.

"...I'm sorry." Tom said, feeling guilty for possibly the first time in his life. "I know it's not much, but you can live with me if you want."

Tord cracked a small smile. "That would be nice, sweetheart..." He said, and watched smugly as Tom's face went redder than a tomato.

"I-it'll be a lot faster if I carry you home." Tom stuttered. "Is that okay?"

Tord nodded, and was instantly scooped up in the monster's strong arms. He wrapped his arms around Tom's neck and hoped he wouldn't be dropped.

Tom stood on the tree branch, then hopped down to the ground and landed on his feet. He held Tord close to his chest and ran in the direction of his home at full speed.
