RECAP: I kiss his chest and neck, snuggling into his side before we fall asleep together.

I was finally sleeping well for the first time in a year when my side felt cool, so I shifted my arm expecting to feel Sophie's warm body press against mine again, but I felt nothing but air. My eyes open and find her no where and her scent is nearly gone. Worry floods my mind as I get up to look for her and find her scent stronger in the hall but as I get closer to the kitchen, I catch the faintest smell of copper.
Running into the kitchen I find Sophie standing in front of the sink with the water running. The water has the faintest tint of pink before turning clear again and she turns the water off before drying her hands; which were slightly swollen.
I watch silently as she turns around and notices my presence. She looks slightly defeated but tries to force a smile anyway. I take a few steps towards her, softly taking her hands in mine, her wince nearly undetectable. I raise her knuckles to my lips and kiss each one before asking what happened.
She shrugs and I can tell her guard is up. It's almost as though she is trying to decide if she should tell me or not. A sigh escapes her lips after a moment and she jumps to sit on the counter before she tells me about the phone call from Adrian. I tell her it'll all be okay and I'll take care of Colten. Sophie shakes her head and looks up at me defiantly, "No. This is my problem, I will deal with Colten. It's time he learned to fall in rank. You have to promise to let me take care of it." I stay silent and she looks expectantly at me as any alpha would. After a few minutes I reluctantly agree to let her try it her way.
Sophie stretches her legs out and hooks her ankles together behind my back, pulling me closer and smiles. I rest my hands on the counter on either side of her. A smirk appears on my lips as I still tower over her even with her sitting on the counter. She wraps her arms around my neck and sticks her tongue out playfully then licks my cheek.
