Hunter comes closer and grabs the box from its place before turning to face me. My eyes narrow with what he says next,
"Sophie, I've known you since we were little kids and you've always been fierce, proud & a little on the wild side. I watched you take on the crazy responsibilities that no other girl should or ever has. And you'll probably punch me for this but I've known you're my mate for almost a year, and knowing that you're about to deck me, makes me even prouder that you're my mate. I already love you more than you could ever believe."
My mind is trying to process everything that he's just told me. He's KNOWN for almost a YEAR? How? How could he have known for so long? As if he could read my thoughts, Hunter sets the box back down on the mantle and wraps his arm around me. His scent is calming and helps me come back from the chaos going on inside my head.
His heartbeat is soothing next to my ear and I found myself growing tired. Sensing this, Hunter walks us backwards until we reach the bed. He lifts me and lays me near the center before climbing on beside me. He leans against the pillows and I crawl up to rest my head on his chest before drifting off to sleep.
