Troubled Waters

Chapter 31

Alberta, Canada
Calm waters mental rehabilitation centre

'Soon.
Soon my dear, we will be reunited.
I know you're waiting for me, I can feel it.
You still love me, I know you do.'

I kissed the photo of my boyfriend and put it away in my bag. Tomorrow night, I escape from this prison that has held me captive. But tomorrow I escape. I've carefully and thoughtfully developed a plan that can't possibly fail. I've had seven years to plan this out. I haven't seen my love for seven long years, but I know in my heart that he still loves me. I'm going to run away from here, find him, take him back, and we're gonna live happily with our family.

I know he forgives me, he's so forgiving and understanding.
He'll see that what I did was all for him.
For us.
I did it so that we can be together forever.

We were going to be together forever.
We were going to live in an apartment, here in Alberta, with our kid.
But he showed up, and ruined it all!
When I find that little shrimp, I'm gonna crush his head with my boot. And enjoy the sound of his skull cracking against the pavement, and savour the moment!

Once he's out of the way, I'll have my baby back.
I've dreamed about him every single night. Every night it's the same scenario. My cute little darling runs up to me and jumps into my arms. Then I spin him around and he giggles his adorable laugh. He tells me how much he loves me. Then I tell him how I'll get rid of that horrible Eddy so that we can finally be together. I'll get rid of that little pest, take him far away from here, and we'll start our own little family. And he tells me how much he'd like that.

It's the same dream over and over,
I know that I can make it a reality.
But first, I need to get out of here.

I hide my bag filled with all of my belongings into the closet.
Then I close the door shut, get into bed, and sleep.

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the beginning of forever.
