It was late at night, that was obvious.
Seungcheol had woken up, beside the prince, as per usual. He had felt an urge in his lower stomach; he needed to urinate. He knew he wasn't supposed to leave the prince's side and should probably wake him up so that Seungcheol wouldn't have to leave him, but the prince had such a lovely sleeping face that the knight couldn't help but leave him be.
Before Seungcheol left and put a decent amount of clothing on, he gently caressed the prince's cheek. This would be one of the only times Jeonghan would allow such soft touches.
When Seungcheol made his way to the bathroom, he passed the Queen, who looked distraught but greeted him nonetheless. It was not odd to find her wandering the halls at night, unable to sleep, but to wander so close to her son's room..
Seungcheol thought nothing of it.
He regretted that when he came back, though.
When he returned to the prince's room, The Queen had exited quickly and when Seungcheol looked in, he noticed that Jeonghan was on the floor with obvious tears pouring from his eyes.
Seungcheol almost froze.
He's never seen the prince in such a state. His face was red along with his eyes. He was sniffling, His breath hitching every once in awhile. Once he noticed Seungcheol, he put his hands over his face. Did Seungcheol leave for so long that it would cause this much damage already? Now he understood why the King seemed so pressed to have Seungcheol with Jeonghan at all times. He understood what everyone meant by the prince being so sad because of the Queen. Now, he believed it.
"L-Leave me be, Choi. I wish to be alone." Jeonghan hisses, his voice soft, but breaking. Seungcheol's heart hurt; the prince was trying to be strong, even with that weak state. He noticed that the prince liked to act as if he needed nobody, but that was an abvious facade; everybody needed someone to let go to sometimes, people just need to let out all their feelings sometimes. Seungcheol waits a moment before replying, "Yes, your highness."
Except, he didn't leave.
Instead he found himself shutting the door behind him and approaching the shaking man, kneeling down and wrapping his arms around the prince.
"Are you going against me, Choi?" Jeonghan choked out, laughing dryly. That front didn't last long, Jeonghan just melting into Seungcheol's arms and breaking down finally. He hid his face on his knight's shoulder and sobbing as loud as his voice would allow. Jeonghan didn't know how long he was crying, or how much he appreciated Seungcheol's warm presence, but he pulled away after a short while to look at Seungcheol.
His knight looked at him so intensely that Jeonghan wanted to cry once more. At that moment, Jeonghan cared not about not wanting to get close to his knight.
"I'm tired, Seungcheol," Jeonghan whispers, "I'm tired of everything." Seungcheol did nothing but listen to his prince, his eyes revealing all he wanted to say anyway. "Have I done something wrong, Seungcheol? She hates me so. I get it, it's because I was the spawn of him, huh? Because my blood has his in it. Why did he do it? Is he guilty? Does he feel even a little bad? Of course he does, he sent you to me.. But that isn't enough. It's not that you aren't, it's just.. I'm disgusting. I'm a disappointment. I sleep with both men and women. I treat you badly. I'm the spawn of the devil." Jeonghan breathes out after rambling, having calmed down a bit.
Seungcheol concluded, at that moment, that what attracted him to Jeonghan wasn't just his body.
"I'm sorry." Jeonghan sighs, looking down. Seungcheol just smiles, "It's fine. I understand." Jeonghan looks up at Seungcheol once more to speak to him, but Seungcheol takes advantage of that by wiping away the younger man's tears away and pressing a short kiss on his lips. "Jeonghan,"
Jeonghan allowed only that to leave his lips before Jeonghan returned his knight's previous kiss.
