His parents didn't come to see him off, which was alright and expected. Jeonghan didn't mind that much.
Seungcheol did, though. He voiced his irritation once they were in the carriage, "I can't believe them. Their beloved son will be gone for a week or so, and they don't even spare my highness a glance? Unbelievable." Jeonghan waved it off, "They are usually that way. It's better to be used to it already."
Seungcheol sighs, defeated. He still wanted to talk, though. "I must admit, your highness, this clothing is very irritating. How are you able to get by with wearing things like this to long high-ranking events and meetings?" Seungcheol was oddly chatty that day, and Jeonghan minded. "How are you able to talk so much, Choi? Aren't you tired?" Jeonghan says warily, eyeing the older man with confusion.
Seungcheol winced, noticing the prince still called him by his surname. It reminded him that they weren't as friendly with each other as Seungcheol would like. "I apologize, your highness." Seungcheol says softly, discouraged, relaxing onto the soft cushion of the seat. He sat across from the prince, so he was able to "admire" him as much as he wanted.
"Do not look at me, Choi."
He thought too soon.
"Yes, your highness."
Jeonghan felt a little bad when he heard the disappointment in his knight's voice. Only a little. He didn't want to be looked at so intensely, though, it would make him feel nervous and flustered and he definitely did not want to feel that in front of another man. No, he did not want to feel that way because he was tired and just wanted to rest instead of feeling the eyes of his knight on him with such weird intensity.
Seungcheol was exhausted last night, so he had easily fallen asleep, but that was not the case with Jeonghan. Jeonghan was tired, but he just stared up at the ceiling. He actually was wondering whether his parents would go to see him off. That's why he was so tired today. He spent all night wondering, getting lost in his thoughts, even allowing a few tears to run down his cheeks.
As he shut his eyes and tried to fall asleep, but it was proving to be hard with the way the carriage was moving. He furrowed his brows and opened his eyes, looking a little irritated, knowing that it was the road's fault. He wondered how long it would still be until he would reach Prince Jisoo's kingdom.
He sighed loudly.
"Choi, sit here." Jeonghan gestured to the empty space next to him. Seungcheol happily took his seat in that empty space. "You are not permitted to move." Jeonghan says simply before resting his head on the older man's shoulder.
His knight's shoulder was not the most comfortable pillow in the world, but it would just have to do.
Jeonghan was able to fall asleep much more easily and Seungcheol just as easily followed his orders.
