{43} LOKI

It's been eight months since Odin had casted Loki out from Asgard. Thor had relayed the message over to SHIELD where Nick Furry insisted that Loki be overseen by the division. Nihaarika Singh was head of interrogation with her telepathic abilities, granting her nickname, Shifter. Being able to shift the odds in her favor, shift ones mind to work to her advantage, and and even shift her own mind to protect others from gaining information that isn't theirs.

The first time Nihaarika saw him, he was cuffed and taken to a confinement cell. He, along with SHIELD agents guiding him, passed by her lab and sent a devilish smirk her way. From that day eight months ago, that smirk. That damned smirk was sealed into her mind. She knew about what he's done and what he's about, but she couldn't help but believe that there was good in him.

"Any thing yet on our God of Mischief?" Furry asked her walking into her lab. "His mind is a tough one to crack, Director Furry. It's going to take time and that's the part that starting to get irritating. Every time I think I can get something out of him, it's just a complete miss." She clenched her jaw in frustration. "Don't give up yet. Your mind is the strongest I know, don't let him get to you." Furry warned and then turned to walk out her lab. "He's already gotten to me more than you know." He mumbled to herself. "What was that?" Furry called out. "Nothing, sir." She called back. Time for another interrogation.

Nihaarika had shown up a few minuets behind schedule. She quickly did a thumb print,
retinal, and I.D. card scan and walked further down the hall to where Loki was being held. "Ah, you're here. I thought you would never show." He spoke. "And miss my favorite god of mischief, now why would I do that?" She said sarcastically. He let out a little chuckle and it forced Nihaarika to form a smile.

As most of the interrogations go, she asks some questions about what he thinks of the future and how he would change the world, but he would always give her the same answer. Nothing. Her frustration started to show. "You know this would go a lot easier if you would just cooperate. Instead of making my life more difficult than it already is." She grunted. "Am I sensing a crack in that vault of a mind?" He teased. "No you're just very... difficult." She muttered. "So I've been told." He smirked.

She turned away from him and took a deep breath before using her powers to try to enter his mind again. Her eyes closed and she tried to connect her mind to his. All she saw was a darkness that seemed endless, but she saw a slight light within the darkness. Her eyes widened and her breathing became unsteady.

"So... you saw?" He questioned. "I only did it because you wouldn't give me what I want. It didn't have to be like this." She said with her voice starting to raise. "Then why... why didn't you do this earlier?" "You think I would've gotten answers early on?" You spat back with her voice now raising. Loki held a look like she had a point.

"I didn't do it 8 months ago because you were still fresh to all of this, to SHIELD. I needed you to get used to this, but not for long. In the process I have made mistakes, but getting closer to you meant getting answers." Nihaarika said. "Are you sure about that? Is that what you really thought would happen? You would just come into here and think you could break my mentality, you can't." He spat back. "That isn't what I wanted." She said lowly. "Well, What was it then!" He yelled. "Because I love you!"

He face soften but then hardened into a smirk. "Lies. You can't love me, nobody is capable of loving me."

"You're wrong. Because I do. I saw that light inside of you and I intend on bringing it out."
