Toby POV

I woke up, stretched and tried to get up but something was holding me down. I was still half sleeping and didn't realize what it was straight away.

It was an arm.

I really, really hoped it wasn't some of Jeff or BEN's "jokes" where it'd turn out to be the corps of a long dead person or something.

Trust me, it's not the least bit fun and they have done it to everyone at least once.

I looked up and saw that it was just Masky, sleeping with his mask still on. It wasn't before then I remembered last night. I had woken up from a nightmare and when I breathed normally again I had seen Masky sleeping in the couch and since I didn't want to be alone I decided to sleep next to him. Probably not a good idea since he's probably going to freak out or something.

But it'd be worth it I thought. Just laying beside someone reminded me of Lyra, not in the same way the nightmares does but of a time where everything was good. I miss that time so much sometimes, just having a normal happy life.

My thoughts were interrupted by Masky waking up, he stiffened and stood up quickly, making me fall of the couch and onto the wooden floor.

"Oh sh*t, Toby I'm sorry." He said.

"It's o-okay, I'm sorry for s-scaring you."

"No, I should just learn to look who it is before I try to throw them of the couch." He laughed and helped me up. "You had a nightmare?" He asked and turned to the window.

"Yeah, I d-did b-but it was just the usual, n-nothing new."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"No, it's o-okay, thank you for l-letting me stay here w-with you, I'm sorry to be such a b-bother..."

"You are not bothering me, if you did I wouldn't let you stay here and it'll probably take a while to get that door fixed so you'll have to stay here for a while, don't even try to protest because I won't change my mind. Want to get something to eat?"

"Yeah, sure!" I said. I would never admit it but I was happy to be able to stay here for a while, it was nice not being alone for ones.

Masky POV

I might have been exaggerating a tiny bit when it came to the amount of time it'd take but I wanted to keep an eye on him which would be hard if I couldn't see him most of the time.

We walked down the stone stairs to the brightly lit kitchen and ate in silence.

"What do you want to do?" I asked when we'd finished eating. "We wont have any work to for weeks and I'm already bored." I said and stretched.

"I don't know, wanna go for a walk or something? I kind of want to get out of here for a while..."

"Yeah, that sounds nice."

"Yay!" He takes hold of my wrist and drags me to the big front door. He opens it and look out. "The weather is really nice, can't we go to the lake?"

"Sure, why not." I smiled and followed him outside. The sun was surprisingly warming but the trees were still bare.

We walked towards the lake, it isn't to far away but it still takes like ten minutes to walk there. I sat down on a mossy stone and watched Toby do...whatever Toby was doing. He was staring at a large pine tree that was leaning out over the gray water.

"What are you doing?" I asked and he slowly turned around to face me.

"I'm just looking at this tree, do you think I can climb it without falling into the lake?" He asked me with a small smile and a glint in his eyes.

"Sure you can, just be careful." I lied, I really didn't think he could but the water wasn't deep. He grinned and started climbing, it didn't take long before he was standing on a to thin branch over the water, the branch bending under his weight.

I suddenly became sad, even though he was small, that branch should have broken a long time ago. He looked up and smiled.

"Look Masky! I didn't fall."

Right then ticked and fell into the water. I stod up swiftly and ran towards the lake. Before I could get there he stood up, the water barely reached his knees.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I am." He laughed. "T-that was so fun, I w-wanna do it a-again!"

"No way, let's go home." I said but could keep from laughing at the expression on his face.

"Well, I'll go home with you if you come and look at this fish here, it's so pretty!"

I sighed and went to look, when I reached the waters edge I stopped and looked  first at the water and then at Toby.

"I don't see any-" Toby grabbed my arm and pulled me into the water with him.

"Wha- So cold!" I gasped and tried to get up from the water, it was freezing.

I sat down at the edge of the lake and glared at him.

"What did you do that for!?"

"What do you mean? I didn't do anything, you just tripped." He said with the most innocent smile, still standing in the knee high water.

"Sure you didn't, let's just go home." I said, still glaring at him but fighting smile.

"Oki!" He said happily and climbed up onto the shore.

Sorry for the late update, I've been busy... I've also been in a really weird mode and it's so annoying! Like one instant I'll be really really happy and jumping around, talking and laughing (pretty much generally annoying people) and then I'll just look at everyone around me and think of stuff they've done to me and for a moment I just hate them and then I become really sad and rn I'm like "Pls stop, it's annoying" xD

This chapter seriously hurt me, it's so bad and the words, like "became"???? how could I do that 😭

My english vocabulary sucks and it doesn't help that I in Swedish easily could describe something in twenty different ways but in english just one... It makes me sad...

Hope you enjoyed anyway! xD
