Masky POV
Suddenly my foot got caught in something and I fell, I stood up and brushed dirt and dead leaves away from my clothes. I turned around and saw that it wasn't a root as I'd first thought, it was a foot, belonging to the small figure curled up against a tree.
"Toby...Is that you!?" I shook his shoulder carefully.
"G-go away, I'm s-sleeping." Said a familiar voice and I sighed in relief, he was okay.
"Come on Toby, let's go back." I said softly.
"N-no, I don't w-wanna, I'm s-sleeping, g-go away." He muttered and turned his head.
"Hey, Toby. Wake up." I laughed. He opened his eyes and looked at me.
"Oh, hi Masky." He said, his voice flat and emotionless. I wanted to say that I was sorry for what I'd said and that I didn't mean it but kept quiet and started walking back to the cabin. I heard him stand up and follow me through the trees.
Toby POV
He didn't even say anything, just turned around and started walking. I followed him silently. It took us almost an hour of walking to get to a small, rundown cabin. Masky opened the door and I saw Hoodie sleeping on the floor with his arm as a pillow.
Masky sat down by the window on the other side of the room. I lay down with my back towards the others and tried to sleep. I couldn't though and I lay awake for hours, waiting for the sun to rise.
The next morning came and we walked all the way back to the mansion without speaking.
We arrived later that morning and as soon as I walked through the door BEN came out from the living room with a big smile.
"Hey Toby! Come here so I can beat you, I've practiced while you've been gone!" He laughed and draged me into the living room. The game was fairly new and he hadn't been able to beat me yet, something that would not change today.
We played for a while and I beat him every time, most of the time I don't stand a change against BEN but I liked this game, probably because BEN sucked at it.
"Ugh, I give up, how do you do it?" He asked.
"I d-don't do anything special, you just s-suck." I laughed and he punched me in the arm.
"Dinner's ready!" Someone called from the kitchen.
We entered the kitchen, still laughing. Masky and Hoodie sat at the table, Hoodie with a plate of food and Masky with a pile of papers. We both took some food and sat down on opposite sides of the table.
"What are you working on?" BEN asked Masky.
"Well, I'm trying to sort out the mess he got us into." Masky said and glared at me. "And I've been doing that for hours now while you both played some stupid video game."
I looked down at my plate, no longer hungry. What was I thinking? I was the one who created this mess to start with. Honestly I didn't understand why this was so bad, of course it wasn't good but it was just a couple of kids, what's the big deal? I knew it was stupid but I decided to ask.
"What's s-such a big deal? It was j-just a couple of kids."
"How stupid are you!? This is not about them, it's about us. Did you know that they were able to put out the fire in time to partly save the house? Did you know there were cameras that we weren't informed about? Or that they are doing everything to find us?" He stood up suddenly and left.
I sat there for a while, just staring at my plate.
"I-I'm not hungry." I said and left the table.
That's good, don't eat.
It'll solve everyones problems.
You'll just starve to death, nobody will even notice.
I went up to my room and sat down with my back to the wall.
It's your fault.
You know he always have so much to do and barely sleeps as it is.
You want to be his friend but you just give him more work.
I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with you.
You just ruin everything for everyone, just look what happened to Lyra and those kids, and everyone else's lives you've ruined.
It was your fault, just like everything else.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up!" I screamed at them but the voices didn't listen, they just continued until I curled up on the floor crying with my arms over my head, just trying not to listen.
I lay there crying for hours, I cried until I fell into a sleep haunted by nightmares full of the blood and tortured screams of everyone I'd ever loved.
My poor little Toby :'(
Hope you liked it =)
