Ariella and Mae enter. The students around them are all looking at their mobile devices.
MAE
The story must be up.
Mae takes out her tablet and plays the video.
ARIELLA (VIDEO)
My name is Ariella, and this is Ariella for real.
This clip is followed by embarrassing moments and outtakes from their recording sessions.
ARIELLA
I thought you deleted those videos!
MAE
I don't understand. This isn't what I uploaded.
Torin enters.
TORIN
That's because I uploaded it. At first, I was going to replace your video with one of my spectacular highlight reels, but when I saw those unflattering takes of you, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show the school the real Ariella.
Mae braces herself as Justine enters.
MAE
I am so getting fired.
Justine shakes her head fervently.
JUSTINE
Mae, that story was...amazing.
ARIELLA/MAE/TORIN
What?
JUSTINE
It's so real. Just what the Daily Pawprint is all about. You are going to make an excellent reporter. But the next time you undermine me, you will never work these halls again.
She snaps two thumbs up and exits.
TORIN
Wait! I'm real. I even sing in my sleep. I'll bring footage.
Torin chases after Justine. Mae skims through her tablet.
MAE
Looks like Justine's not the only one who loved it. Read the comments.
ARIELLA
(reading) "Ariella doesn't need to pretend to be someone else. She's so much more inspiring just being herself.
MAE
(reading) "I have the exact same PJ's. I guess I'm not a dork after all." CoolCaleb77?
ARIELLA
I thought getting people to notice me would make me stand out. Now I know that just being myself and doing what I love is enough.
MAE
And you should probably return those shoes before you hurt yourself.
They cringe at the video.
