Christy's POV.
I took another look round the restaurant mentally giving Mercy a thumbs up. The girl chose an amazing place for her birthday.
"Omo girl this place fine die, (girl this place is amazing)" I said taking yet another look.
"You don talk am like five times this evening alone,(you've said that like five times this evening alone.)" She said with a laugh bringing her glass of wine to her lips.
"But where are these girls kwanu?" She hissed bringing her phone out of her bag.
"Try calling them again." I said turning to my own phone. The girls were supposed to be here an hour ago but they hadn't arrived yet.
"I swear eh if they–"
"Hey boo," we heard someone call. I turned and I saw them; my girls.
"Hi hi," I said with a smile on my face. I got up and blew kisses at each of them giving each of them a hug. Mercy didn't get up from her seat she sat there giving them the look.
"Happy birthday darling," Stephanie the most lovable one amongst us said bending down to give Mercy a kiss and a hug.
"You swear if they do wetin? Wetin you go do eh Mercy? (You swear you'd do what?) Get up jare receive your guests like a proper Nigerian woman." Tiwa said with a laugh urging Mercy to get up. Mercy rolled her eyes at Tiwa and looked away.
"Look at this one o," Tiwa said laughing real hard.
"Sorry Jare, we were held up. Happy birthday boo." Edwina said placing a box before Mercy.
"Me I knew you'd be angry because of the delay so I decided to bring a peace offering among the gifts I have for you." Edwina continued settling before a seat.
"So you decided to bribe me?" Mercy finally spoke taking the box and keeping it away.
"See the time all of you are coming eh? Is it good? When you people have occasion I'd come late too." Mercy said pointing at each of them. I laughed as well as the other girls.
"Sorry ma," Stephanie said on behalf of everyone each of them taking their seats picking up the menu before them.
"This place is really nice," Tiwa began after few minutes of digging into our foods.
"Thank you babe," Mercy said battling her lashes in a mock blush.
"See this one," I said giving her the see-this-one look and we all burst out into laughter.
"But really, Mercy how did you discover this place?" Edwina asked causing us all to be interested. Edwina and gist five and six.
"That's true o," I chirped in swallowing my food.
"Well, Matt used to bring me here whenever there was something to celebrate." She confessed smiling broadly.
"Matt? As in your ex?" I asked.
"Yup that very one,"
"What even happened between you two sef?" Tiwa said picking up her glass.
"I caught him cheating on me and guess what his excuse was? I wasn't giving him some. I should have known, this oyibo boys their eyes no good, if they no fit get the thing wey dey under your skirt they no want. And he even said how can a black ho be keeping him waiting like that.
