“I will not allow it!” Parker Raged. I had just told him that we should try to get to Linda’s family farm because we would be safer there and there were animals there that would provide food for us, even if we did have to slaughter them.
“Parker, you just don’t get it,” I exclaimed wanting to get my point. “We’re safe here temporarily, but we have to move on if we want to survive!” I had now aroused the attention of Alyson, Briana, and Jason.
“What’s going on guys?” Jason was the first to ask, a glint of curiosity in his eyes. “Nothing,” Parker muttered, not wanting to get into an argument. “Just go back to what you were doing, everything’s fine.” Parker said with a smile that would make anyone believe him, but not me.
“No, everything is not fine. I’m telling Parker that we should go to Linda’s farm because it’s safer there then here. There we would be safe from the infected.” I said with the most confidence I could muster up, which wasn’t a lot to be honest.
All three of them looked from me to Parker and back to me. They didn’t know who to believe and who wouldn’t. They’d probably known Parker for far too long now and then comes this guy demanding they leave to some place which who knows what is there.
“Any why aren’t we safe here?” Asked Alyson; studying my face intently. Did I want to tell her that we’re not safe here, would they really trust me enough to leave this sacred haven? “First of all, we only have enough food to last us a few and then what? We would have to go out there and raid stuff while trying to not get mauled by them!” I pointed quickly to an infected who kept walking at a car multiple times for no goddamn reason.
“Second of all, the infected could notice we are in here and then they would try to barge in and we would be defenseless, while at the farm we would be alone because it’s five miles out of the city and I can guess that it must have a fence around it.” I looked at Alyson who was now looking at me with some new type of respect.
“I’ll follow you wherever you go, pretty boy.” Jason smirked, looking directly at me and then winking. I was shocked not because of the way Jason was acting, but that he called me pretty boy. I’ve never, and I mean never in my life been called pretty and it totally angered me.
I walked up to Jason and started poking him really hard right in his chest, “Don’t you ever, and I mean ever call me pretty boy. I am not pretty. I’m not a girl you can go complimenting and flirting with. I am a man, maybe not handsome enough or hot enough but certainly not pretty,” I said right in Jason’s face, my nostrils probably flaring but I didn’t care. “Got that Jason?” Putting emphasize on his name so he understood me clear.
He looked wide-eye and it seemed he didn’t know what to say. He kept glancing at me, Parker, and his two friends. “I-I-I got it…” He finally said, taking one step back from me. I held my head high in the adrenaline I just got. “Now, are you guys with me or against me? I will go with or without you, but the more people the better.”
The three of them huddled in a group and started chatting while I heard Parker grunt from behind me. I turned and stared him down; he was not going to get away from what he told me quickly. “Parker, you were planning on killing us all, you’re lucky I didn’t tell that to them,” I moved my right hand so I want now pointing at the huddled group. “You’ve probably known them for a long time, but that doesn’t mean you can just sacrifice us all.” I stated, furious as hell at what he did. I’m just lucky that Linda hadn’t been awake and heard any of this.
“Hm” He grunted and turned away from me hence again, but I didn’t keep on arguing with him. I was irritated with him and I needed to get away from this. I went directly to Linda and woke her up; I needed to tell her the plan. “Wh-what?” She said groggily, meaning she wasn’t a morning person at all.
