Paul had us put our weapons in a sack they carried and then they marched us along while pointing their arrows at us. “Keep on movin’.” I heard Paul say once in a while every time one of us were starting to get slow.

They had Parker in the front since they saw him as the biggest threat, and then there was me, Jace, Linda, Alyson, and Briana. We were all walking in a straight vertical line, none of us wanting to get shot with an arrow.

Once Parker surrendered all of us, we were all shocked and started screaming at him. Of course it wasn’t technically screaming as it was scream whispering. I questioned his motive because I know we wouldn’t have gotten this far just to surrender, and the rest of the group was just saying how they weren’t going to get captured and how they were going to fight back.

“Shh,” Parker whispered rudely. “I have a plan.  Just follow me lead.” That shut us up. We all knew Parker was smart so if he said he had a plan, then he had a plan. And here we were about to walk god knows where; to our death maybe?

“Don’t touch me!” screamed a feminine voice somewhere behind me. I swiftly turned around and saw Linda struggling with Brian. He had a smirk on his face that said it all, the smirk meaning that he didn’t give a damn and what he wanted, he was going to get.

Just seeing him lay a finger on Linda brought up my rage. “Don’t touch her!” I screamed at Paul and then charged at him. He fell with an “Omph” on the floor and his crossbow went flying somewhere. I started punching him in the face left and right. I didn’t give his face a chance neither my knuckles. I was furious at this delusional pervert.

I felt warm liquid on my knuckles and I heard a crack while punching Paul, thus meaning that I must’ve broken his nose through my rampage. When I was satisfied, I stopped, stood up and spit on the now unconscious Paul.

Through all this, I didn’t even notice that Brian was also on the ground but he wasn’t bleeding, just knocked out cold. “Grab the sack and let’s go!” Parker screeched at us as he picked up Brian’s crossbow and shot the first infected he saw. I grabbed the sack and then started running after Parker who was already jogging up ahead to the bridge.

I searched inside the sack for the machete and throw it to Parker; I then grabbed my axe and handed the other axe to Linda. I threw the sack to Jace and I heard him rummage through the bag in search for his weapon.

I saw an infected come towards me so I brought my axe behind me and swung it down when I was near the infected. It dropped down to the floor lifeless; like they always do. Parker and I were clearing our way by taking out the infected that remained. I estimated that the bridge was a 20 minute run from here.

I was nervous, very nervous because across that bridge is our freedom, hopefully. I know we’ll still have to face infected across it, but there might be less infected. We had a greater chance at survival because of the farm. The farm would help us live if we surround it with a strong enough barrier that no human can penetrate it.

I was running and running and then I felt a sudden pain in my leg. I tumbled to the floor while trying to clutch my leg for protection. I don’t know what happened but when I looked down at my leg I saw I had an arrow through it. I had an actual arrow in my leg, in my leg! I looked up and saw Paul holding the crossbow before being devoured by the infected that surrounded him.

I was clutching my leg out of pain, it was burning. My hands were shaking while covered in blood. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I couldn’t even take the arrow out because it hurt just to touch it. I couldn’t believe my luck.
