I placed the cheese onto the slice of ham that was on a slice of bread, I then put the opposite slice of bread on the ham and picked up the plate. I went to the living room where the TV was turned on to a rerun of America’s Got Talent. I watched this show every moment of everyday even reruns because it was hilarious watching people get turned down.
I was choking on my sandwich while dying of laughter when I heard a sudden thumping and a faint screaming coming from the front of the house. I grumbled something under my breath as I placed my already bitten sandwich on the glass table and got up and went to the door.
The nearer I reached the door the higher the thumping and screaming was. I opened the door and there standing before me was my neighbor Linda. She looked scared, her hair was messy and she had dirty stains on her face.
“Oh thank god you opened up,” Linda started to say as she came in my house and closed the door behind her. “S’cuse me but you can’t just go into people’s houses with their permission.” I stated frustration clearly on my face.
“I’m sorry! Someone got in my house and they started chasing me, I didn’t know what to do so I panicked!” She said still frightened from the expression on her face. I didn’t know why she came to me, we barely ever talk and when we do talk it’s to argue about why her dog was leaving droppings on my yard.
“I’m sorry Linda, I shouldn’t have raised my voice at you” I said with sincerity. Linda must have not heard me because she didn’t respond. I went back to where I was sitting and the TV was on commercials when I got back so I just left my sandwich there until the show came back. Linda didn’t move from the position she was at and I felt like I should tell her to come sit next to me but she already invited herself in so she might as well make herself at home.
I look at my backyard and saw the luscious green grass that shined due to the sun hitting it directly and also the fact that it rained yesterday making it seem majestic. The butterflies flying from flower too flower and the bees eating and the flowers. If I could, I would freeze this moment forever and just come back to it whenever I felt stressed, which was a lot now adays
I looked at Linda’s house and I couldn’t Imagine someone breaking into her house. I decide to go outside in my yard and look over the fence to her house and see if anybody was still there. Although my yard seemed majestic from one side another side was dead. I was making noise loud enough to wake up the dead because of the dead grass I was walking on.
I reached the fence and put my ear to the fence to see if I heard any noise at all. At first I didn’t hear anything but upon further inspection I did manage to hear a faint moaning at first. It started to get louder with every second that passed and I could swear that it was already on the other side of the fence.
I didn’t know if I should look over the fence or not but curiosity took better of me and I just had to take a peek. When I looked over, I jumped back in disgust with the process of gutting my palm on some chipped wood. On the other side of the fence must have been the man Linda was talking about but he didn’t even look strong enough to even move.
His skin was a sickly greyish color and his eyes were bloodshot red. The man look tired like he was awoken suddenly and he had to fight in a war. I held my hand as I started to back up; I heard the man grunting from the other side and what appeared to him trying to break the fence.
I didn’t think he would break it, I know he wouldn’t break the fence because of his short frame. I was wrong, the wooden fence started to get cracks and soon another there was a hole big enough for him to fit through.
