Red ran into the boy's arms and the two hugged. Confused I acted as the protective older brother she always needed. I put my hand on Reds shoulder lightly pulling her closer to me.

"Is she here?" The boy asked Red. Red nodded. "Can I see her?"

"I don't think that's a good idea. She is still upset that you left." Red told him. Curious, Amber walked over to the door.

"What's not a good idea?" Amber asked peering out the door. The boy gave a sad smile. It reminded me of something Matt used to do. I heard Amber swallow. "Hello"

Everything suddenly clicked into place. He looked so different. Lighter. Some heavy pain had been lifted and left behind only the little boy I met briefly before leaving the Lab. His previously sandy blond hair had gotten darker and he was given glasses. Behind all of the outward changes, it still made sense that this was the young man that fought for his life for so long. I wanted to hug him. Tell him how proud I was. But it was clearly not the time.

"Red, Jake, can you give us a second?" Matt asked and the two of us accepted. Inside everyone seemed to be confused but they too knew it was Matt. I turned to Red to ask her how she had known it was him.

"Since I left the jail my ring had been feeling weird. Not hot like it did when I met these guys and, though I didn't notice, you. And it wasn't cold like it had been when Amber and I ran into two wizards. I can't explain it, But when I heard his voice it just made sense, I just knew that's what it was trying to tell me. That's what was missing, who was missing." Red explained. I never realized how much she cared about him. He is part of her pack I guess. The conversation was ended when I caught a glimpse of Ambers fox sprint away.

"Amber," I said out loud.

"Really?"Apollo asked. We all had agreed to keep a low profile at least until the spring. That meant no shifting in the front.

Red got up off the couch and ran out the door. Matt stood in the doorway with his eyes closed for a moment. He looked over at me and sighed. The rest of the pack decided to go to the backyard to stretch their legs and I joined them. After not shifting for so long I never miss a chance. However, I couldn't shake the feeling I needed to be there for Amber and Red. (ODP: 6/25/18
