Chapter Ten:

Veronica slowly made her way towards Archie, who casually eyed her up and down as he took a sip of his punch. Veronica ignored it and sighed, surprising Archie as she snatched the cup from his hand and sculled the rest of the liquid down. She almost choked on one of the small pieces of fruit, but in the end she swallowed it all safely.

"Uh, you could've just got your own instead of stealing mine." Archie awkwardly frowned. Veronica shrugged and sighed loudly.

"I can't find Chuck, nor can I find Cheryl or Betty." She spoke. Archie nodded as they both glanced into the crowd. "Why didn't you just stay with Reggie, then?"

Veronica paused, as if she had been caught for doing something wrong, before realising she shouldn't feel like that and rolled her eyes. "Wow, you're Mr. Crazy Stalking Ex-Boyfriend now! Fan- fucking tastic!"

The two stood in silence for a while, watching the crowd. Veronica eventually attempted to walk away, yet almost tripped on her own feet.

"You must react quickly to alcohol." Archie laughed, still avoiding eye contact with Veronica. Veronica furrowed her eyebrows. "I don't follow ..."

"I like poured half of my flask in that punch—"

"What?!" Veronica snapped "You could've told me, you fucking cactus."

Veronica had realised the side effects of the alcohol kicking in, her vision slightly blurring. "Well, gee, thanks. I better get home before my drunk self exposes your bony ass."

Archie raised an eyebrow. "Do you want me to drop you—"

"No, Archie. We're exes. You cheated on me, I hate you, we're not friends, we don't talk. I'll either walk home or call a fucking uber, but thanks for the offer." She pushed through the crowd as fast as she could and exited the school hall. As soon as she was in the car park, her vision was too blurry for her to see.

Then, the vision was clear. Then back to blurry. Veronica leaned against a car and tapped her head. "Why the fuck—"

"Veronica? Are you okay?" There wouldn't be any other voice Veronica wanted to hear right now but Reggie's. She could barely she his face properly from the blurrs, but knew it was him from the warmth and feeling of comfort in his hands as his arm wrapped around her waist, preventing her from falling.

"R-reggie, I don't feel so good." She groaned, the visions were giving her a headache.

What the fuck was in that motherfucker's drink?

"Woah, hey, relax Ron," Reggie had to use his other arm to support her as her body gave up keeping her stable. "Everything is going to be okay—i-i'm going to take you home and we'll get you some help from there."

After knowing that Reggie was going to make sure she was okay, she passed out into his arms.

Veronica fluttered her eyes open to a dark, unfamiliar room. She squinted her eyes as she turned to a window with the moonlight shining directly into her eyes. Then, a strong, masculine scent flooded her senses, sending her tense muscles relaxing.

She knew the scent. It was no doubt Reggie's.

She could've waited until the morning, but her curiousity got to her as she crawled out of his bedsheets and exited his room, tip-toeing out of the door. She faced a human face right around the corner, smirking as she gasped lightly.
