Chapter Two:
Alot of things were going on in Riverdale High-normal things, for once. In three days, the Riverdale school dance was on, in two days, the river-vixens competed in a cheerleading competition, and today, the bulldogs were playing their yearly traditional game against Wesley High School, a small town fifty miles south of Riverdale.
The river-vixens currently were doing their last practice for tonight's game after ten frustrating attempts. Betty was sent to the back by Cheryl for her lack of effort, while Veronica stayed at the front with Cheryl, Josie and Toni. As much as Veronica protested for her best friend, Cheryl's stubborness was too strong.
"I want it to be perfect. Betty won't give us perfect, especially not tonight." Cheryl quoted.
After they finished the cheorography and chanting, Cheryl stood proudly in front of everybody with Toni, a hand wrapped aroumd her waist. She looked down towards Toni and smiled. "Wow, I think we've mastered it all."
Not long after that, Cheryl had let the vixens off early.
Veronica grabbed her bag and randomly walked down an empty hall, humming along to 'On my mind' by Jorja Smith. A sudden whack caught her attention as the sound echoed. Veronica snapped her head down the hall, but nobody was there.
She turned to continue walking, yet stopped once again and ran towards the sound after she heard indistinctive yelling-by a familiar voice, perhaps.
She peeped her head around the corner, the blood draining out of her face as she watched Reggie raise his fist, ready to strike again at Archie, who was pinned against the wall.
"Reggie, no!" She ran up to the two, her raven hair whipping the side as she pulled them apart. She turned to Archie, who sat on the floor, his jaw swollen.
"Oh my god, Archiekins-"
"Veronica, he c-" Reggie opened his mouth to speak, yet was interuppted by a loud slap.
Veronica stared at him blankly as he held his cheek, frozen in shock. Veronica looked back from her hand to his cheek, not regretting it in the moment. Dissapointment had hit her with a truck. "I-i-"
Archie started to cough on the floor, his jaw swelling. Veronica pulled him up, holding her hand on his back for support as he wobbled a little. She cupped his face, thumb stroking the swelling on his jaw. "You definitely need some ice, Archiekins."
By the time Veronica had placed Archie on the small bench beside the locker area, Reggie had walked off somewhere else. Veronica told Archie to stay in his spot until she got some ice. He nodded, slouching in the chair.
As Veronica walked up the halls towards the school nurse, she wondered why Reggie would be so angered to beat up one of his friends-or you could say frenemy. Veronica knew they always had ups and downs about the northside and southside, just like her and Reggie, but they also tended to argue about the leadership of the Bulldogs, so she simply assumed it was something to do with that.
The bell had rung by the time she had gotten back to him. Students stared at Archie quite oddly with now a few bruises on his face.
"I don't deserve you, Ronnie." Veronica had heard the slight mumble under Archie's breath as he placed the icepack on his face. Veronica shrugged it off, continuing to watch the people pass by.
But really, did he deserve her?
I was going to publish a chapter earlier, but I decided to delete it because I don't want this story to be too rushed.
It kind of hurt a little writing this, since Reggie had a pretty damn good reason to beat Archie up, that'll prolly be revealed in the next few chapters.
