Chace's POV

My head was pounding in tune with my heart as I left Chase's hospital room. To say I was infuriated was an understatement.

I couldn't believe this had happened. She didn't deserve to be attacked like that, especially because of me. If Maya thought she could get away with that, she had another thing coming.

I had my hands on my head while taking deep breaths as I entered the waiting room. I couldn't wait to get out of there, hospitals freaked me out.

I looked around the chairs to see where Adrien was waiting. He said to meet him in here. I glanced around and found him sitting in the corner of the room with his arms crossed.

I quickly walked over to him and nodded toward the door once he noticed me.

He stood up and followed me out without saying anything, though I could feel that he was as pissed off as I was, maybe more. Once we finally left that horrible hospital and entered the parking lot, he spoke.

"Who did it?" he asked.

I pressed my lips together and glared at the pavement before answering. "Her name is Maya Samuels. She's my ex. The other girls were her friends, I'm guessing." I couldn't handle looking him in the eyes, so I stayed fixated on the sidewalk. I knew this was my fault that his daughter was here, there was no way I could look him in the face.

There was a small silence before he finally said, "Exes can be crazy, man."

I snorted a bit and finally glanced up. "Tell me about it."

"Kid, you don't need to feel so guilty. I can see it in your face. It's not your fault."

I took a deep shaky breath and shook my head. "How I feel about it doesn't matter right now. Let's head to Jameson Prep and pay these girls a visit, shall we?"

Finally we arrived to the private school, having come up with a little plan on the way. We weren't going to hurt them - not that they didn't deserve it, but scaring them was a different story.

"Okay, kid. They should be done with basketball practice any minute now. You bring them to club, I'll take it from there."

"Got it. We'll be there soon." I opened the car door and stepped out.  As soon as I shut the door, Adrien peeled out of the parking lot. He probably had a lot of setting up to do.

I walked up to the school and stood outside the door. I stuck my hands in my pockets and whistled while envisioning Maya getting choked out by Chase if they had a chance to be one on one. She wouldn't have lasted a second against her and Maya knew it. That was why she had an entire squad of girls with her.

I squeezed my eyes shut and my hands turned to fists in my pockets as my mind switched back to that memory that's been replaying in my head since yesterday. All of those girls on top of Chase while Maya kicked her in the stomach. Chase screaming in pain while she had no way to defend herself. Her blood all over the sidewalk. I should have gotten there sooner. It's my fault.

A stupid tear fell from my eye and I quickly wiped it off just as the glass door opened and a bunch of girls' voices filled the silence.

I straightened up and ran my hand through my hair as I spotted Maya and her group of friends coming through the door.

"I know! Coach was being so stupid today! Maybe he'd watch his mouth if he knew what we could do to him," Maya said smugly.

Her group of idiot friends laughed. "Seriously, does he know what he's up against?" Said a short brunette.
