I walk to the kitchen just to see the oldies eating the bacon while the youngsters are pouting with their arms crossed against their chests.
Seriously pouting.
For bacon.
Is completely understandable.
Bacon is food and food is worth pouting for.
I quickly take 2 pancakes on my plate and pour chocolate syrup and whipped cream on it to make it absolutely delicious.
I take a seat between Al and Dam at the kitchen counter and scarf down the sweet goodness like a hungry wolf, ignoring the gazes of people around me.
I gulp down some apple juice as my phone dings in my pocket.
"I eat like this, no need to stare. Eat your food." I command and retrieve my phone from my jean pocket to see a text from Matt.
I got the place to talk to Charles.
Today it will be sorted and no danger will come to these idiots because of me.
"How the hell can you eat so fast, did you even chew it?" Al asked like an responsible adult, making me wonder if my mother would have said the same thing if we were a family.
But no use in thinking about it now.
I take a look at the 3 hungry elephants eating the bacon like they will die if they don't eat and and look back at the oldies.
"You should be used to it, at least I am a bit better then these fat asses." I said pointing my thumb at Vin, Rom and Dam.
A grumbled groaning noise was made by them as they tried to protest with their mouth full.
Giving me complete view of their half chewed food.
I received a slight smack at the back of my head.
"Language!" Al hissed.
He is reminding me of a typical mom.
"You cursed even before I did." I complained folding my arms under my chest and fixing a glare at Al.
"So? I can because I am older. You can curse when you are my age, I won't say anything." He justified and placed his hands on his hips.
I looked beside him to see Tony and Fran nodding their heads in agreement.
I don't know why but I just got a flash of Al with one hand on his hip and a spoon in the other hand, wearing a pink frilly apron with Tony and Fran wearing same apron in the same pose.
It was hard to keep my posture after that image but I contained somehow.
"Okay." I said with a retort forming in my brain.
Al gave me a satisfied smile and went back to eating his food as I dropped my hands to my lap.
"Hey Vin, your friend... what's his name?" I pretended to think facing a confused Vin. By now the whole focus was on me and everyone was waiting for me to complete my sentence. "Nate... I think, can I have his number?" I asked maintaining my fake innocent face.
Vin scrunched his eyebrows.
"Why?"
"Because I have to get laid."
Vin choked on air, Al's food was stuck in his throat, Dam spat out the juice onto his foot and the remaining three choked on their juice.
Al was the first to be back from his coughing fit.
"Whaaat." Al screeched and I am pretty sure whole neighborhood jumped from the loud noise.
"I said because I ha-------" Vin cut me off as soon as he recovered by covering my mouth with his hand.
Thankfully no one is choking on anything right now.
"NO." Rom shouted.
"You are not doing that." Rom continued with a stern face.
"Vin don't you dare give her that number." Dam threatened pointing his finger at Vin.
"Don't even think about anything like that." Tony warned with his gaze focused on me.
"I refuse to give you permission to do that." Fran stated.
"Young lady, you are grounded for life." Al announced and all of them folded their arms in sync.
Quiet creepy if you ask me.
"Seriously?" I asked raising an eyebrow with blank face.
They nodded.
I think they rehearse this sync thingy.
"And you think I will listen?" I inquired.
"Yes" They chorused.
"Why would I do that?"
"Because we said so and you love us." Vin commented with a smug smirk.
"Who said anything about love?" I asked purposely avoiding the topic.
His face fell and others did too.
"Do you not love us?" Rom asked his face stern back in place.
"I never denied it." I answered, any traces of smirk gone from my face.
"But you never accepted it either." Dam pointed out.
"That's is true." I said controlling my facial muscles to stop myself from laughing at their faces.
"Can't you guys see, she is tricking you and you guys are making a fool out of yourselves." Fran clarified.
Damn and here I was having fun.
"Okay, we get why you want Nate's number but why do you want to do it?"
"Because Al said to curse when I am his age. But I know for a fact that he was banging chicks every day and night when he was my age, so it's only fair that I do the same but with the opposite gender, of course. That's why." I gave them a smirk for extra smugness.
That will teach them.
Collective groans were heard as they realized what this was all about.
"You just had to talk about language." Tony asked Al.
"Don't just blame me, you two were agreeing with me before." Al accused Tony and Fran.
"Hey! Don't drag me into your argument." Fran protested.
"You agreed too, didn't you?" Tony pointed out to Fran.
"While they are at it, Vin, give me the number." I asked my voice a little loud for them to notice.
That broke the fight before it even started and all of them looked at me so fast I am shocked none of them got a whiplash.
"NO. I refuse, you can curse but no daughter of mine will be banging anyone anytime soon." Al said folding his arms
I just smirked at his sudden change of statement.
The others just let it be.
But I just realized that I had a full, proper family moment with these guys without even noticing it.
With them it just comes naturally.
Maybe, just maybe. I can really be a part of their family someday.
It doesn't hurt to hope. I thought to myself.
But it does hurt when those hopes are crushed. My brain answered in a small voice.
I really hope that you are wrong brain.
But first let's get that truce over with.
