"Good morning class"

"Good morning Mr. Evans" replied the boys and girls in unison

"Today I though we'd start with a pop quiz"

there was a course of why's and groans throughout the class. Mr. Evans has a pop quiz at least once a week it wasn't really a surprise that he picked Monday to give it. Mr. Evans is a short and slightly balled man. He's a kind of a fun teacher, sometimes but people complain that the work he gives is to hard and a lot of people end up failing his class. The class isn't hard but studying for it isn't really the best thing in the world to do so most people don't do it and not to mention this is a honors class, what did people expect.

" I only want you to have a pencil on your desk" said Mr. Evans to the class.

Just as I put my pencil on my desk Mr. Evans put the first quiz down on the desk closet to his. When I got my test I waited for him to tell us when to start. I looked around the class to see which kids are ready for this quiz and which kids aren't, I can usually tell just by looking at them if they are ready or not, I just read their body language and the look on the boys face sitting next to me tells me that he is absolutely in no way ready for this quiz. Me on the other hand I know I'm going to pass this quiz, I have to or I can kiss my future career good buy. Right now I take the hardest classes in the school I also take online classes and if I pass them all I'll graduate with two associate degrees, computer science and a business degree so I can get in to the best college there is and get through it faster. The faster I finish the sooner I can get a good job, get paid and, help mom pay the bills and even by my mom a nicer place. As much as my mom tries to hide it I know we don't have a lot of money and I really want to do something that would really help mom that's why I have to finish school as fast as I can so failing even one tiny quiz isn't an option for me.

Mr. Evans set the last test down and pulls out his timer "ready....Go"

we all turn our papers over as Mr. Evans starts the timer.

When I look at the quiz I sigh in relieve. Almost all of the questions on there I know right now I and I didn't even study over the weekend

"Well this will be easy," I mumbled quietly

"Do you have something you'd like to share with us Ms. Harrison" Mr. Evans ask me hearing me mumble but not hearing what I said

" No Mr. Evans" I answered trying not to sound guilty.

" Then you better get started" Mr. Evans replied back and by that I start on my quiz.

Twenty minutes latter my quiz is finished and I stood up to turn it in. "Wow she's such a nerd if she wasn't so hot then it'd be a wonder why she even has any friends" I here someone say

I turn around to see Collin Higgs smirking at me, but everyone else is doing their quiz. I seem to be the only one that herd him but I don't care what Collin has to say, he probably wasn't even talking about me anyway so I just ignore his comment and turn in my paper.

As I go back to my seat I notice Collin is still staring me I think he's mad at me because I hurt his ego last Friday in P.E. when he challenged me to a dodge ball game and I won. I'm not really a sports person at school. I like sports but I'm to embarrassed to show that side of me at school. In P.E. class I do enough to get a good grade and that's it. I also love to exercise and I would do it more often if I had more time. The only exercise I do is in my self defense class and when I practice self defense. What I'm trying to say is P.E. is the only class I have that I'm not the top of the class in Collin is and I was actually very surprised when I won. I almost thought he let me win but when the games was over he threw a very big and very funny tantrum and then accused me of cheating. Like how could I have cheated. Collin is one of the schools bad boys which means he has a very big ego and when he lost then his ego was hurt and by the looks of it, it was hurt pretty bad. Yes ladies and gentlemen that's the big thing that happened last Friday because since then a lot of people have been talking about me and even talking to me. Who new winning the schools bad boy at a game of dodge ball in P.E. could cause so much trouble. I ignored his stares and went back to my seat to read a book I had in my backpack.

Thirty-five minutes later Mr. Evans timer went off

"Ok everyone please put your pencils down and hand in your quiz" Mr. Evans said to the four remaining students that had not finished their quiz five minutes before class is over

"you may use the last five minutes to breath and relax" Mr. Evans said.

By that everyone got up and rushed over to their friends to talk. I just continue to read the book I started when I finished. I was so engrossed in my book I didn't even notice someone walk over and stop next to my desk.

"Hey beautiful" someone said in a low and deep voice. I look up to see Collin smirking at me. Is he talking to me?

I turn around to see if there someone else behind me that he might be talking to but there was no one so I turned back around to see him still smirking at me, confused I ask, "Are you talking to me"

"Who else would I be talking to" he said rolling his eyes.

"So my friend is having a party this Friday and I was wondering if you would like to go with me"

Wait what?! I thought this boy hated me and now he's asking me to go to a party with him something was seriously wrong with this kid

"I'm busy on Friday so I won't be able to, sorry" I lie with a fake apologetic smile

"I'm sure you can move whatever it is you're going to do to a different day" he says clearly catching my lie

Should I come up with a different lie or keep feeding this one? I don't really have any plans this friday but I would rather do anything else then go to someone's house full of drunk teens with one of the school's bad boys. Not to mention what kind of person challenges the school nerd just to make her look stupid then asks her to go to a party with him. He's obviously got something up his sleeve. Yah, not taking the bait Collin.

I'm not really able to think of a different excuse right now so I decide to keep pushing my luck.

"It's really important that it gets done on Friday so yah I won't be able to come." I say back trying to get him to drop it and walk away.

" Well if you change your mind let me know," he says winking at me then he walked away over to talk to his friends which are all smiling at me.

Well that was unexpected. Not thinking to much about it I went back to reading my book and did my best to ignore them. Two min. latter the bell rings so I pack up my stuff and head to 2nd period.

I know this Chapter is so short. The next one will be longer
