Chapter 8

I woke up to someone humming a tune I didn't recognize.

I opened my eyes and noticed I had a blanket wrapped around me and I don't remember putting one there. I looked around the room and I saw a girl that looked to be my age on the other side of the room sitting at a desk doing homework with a set of headphones in. From what I could see she had blond hair with pink highlights.

I guess she was my roommate; she must also be the one that wrapped this blanket on me because I definitely didn't. I must have looked pretty bad while sleep for her to do something like that and I know I still do.

I could tell my eyes were puffy from crying myself to sleep.

I had a headache and I had skipped lunch and so I was starving.

I also don't remember eating breakfast ether I was in the hospital or recovery room or whatever they call it at the time. Thinking about this morning made my heart hurt. A lot happened. That was were I learned that I was not as normal as I thought. I learned that my parents kept an entire world from me a world where people existed that could do things I could only imagine. I don't know a lot about this world I was now apart of and I wanted to learn all I could but right now I just felt.... lost and... alone no, I was alone and I would be from now on. I could fill myself crying again.

The humming got louder snapping me out of the trance I was in and I was reminded I wasn't the only one in this room anymore.

I wiped my eyes, got up, and stretched. I looked over at my roommate. She had her nose buried so deep in her book she hadn't even notice I was up yet. She started to hum louder and louder till she was singing at the top of her lungs. Her voice wasn't bad at all but it was starting to get a little awkward. I looked the other way and started wandering around the room to busy myself with something else. 

Suddenly there was a loud crash and I turned back towards my roommate. Her chair was tipped over and She was standing on top of her desk with her eyes closed singing her heart out holding her pencil as a microphone.

I covered my mouth to stop myself from laughing. Then she started jumping up and down and doing a sort of dance all while her eyes were closed. With how hard she was jumping I was surprised the desk didn't break from under her. She looked ridiculous I didn't know how much longer I could keep myself from laughing. While she was dancing her foot hit edge of the desk and they both tipped over on to the floor and that's what broke me. I started laughing so hard it made my stomach ache even more. 

I looked at my roommate on the floor, her headphones had fallen out of her ears and she had a stunned expression on her face. Her eyes met mine and she finally remembered I was in here to. Her face turned red and she jumped up from the floor out of embarrassment. I didn't want to make my roommate feel worse then she already did so I tried to contain my laughter and I eventually succeeded. We just stared at one another for what felt like minutes but was really seconds until she finally broke the silence.

" Hey, I'm Sarah" Sarah quickly said holding out her hand for me to shake. " I'm a witch. "

" I'm Alexis but you can call me Lexi " I said shaking her hand. " I'm a Brainac and a self-healer. "

Her eyes widen a little " We don't usually get people with two abilities" she said surprised but then continued "but it's not unheard of especially those two abilities because they both have something to do with the brain. " Right, that's what that other girl I saw in the hall with Ms. Hennings said to.

" So..... we're roommates " Sarah said.

" Yeah I guess so, " I replied back with I small smile. More silence

" I'm Sarah, " she said again holding out her hand but quickly pulling it back with a nervous laugh.

"Opps.... I'm sorry you saw all that, that was kind of weird I know and I also forgot you were in here." Well that was obvious. I smiled at her and shrugged my shoulders to show her it didn't bother me.

" It's ok everyone has a little bit of weird in them anyway and my day kinda really sucked so far so it's really nice to finally get to laugh," I reassured her.

She gave me a sympathetic smile. It looks like she did noticed how bad I looked while I was sleeping.

" So who are all these guys "? I asked pointing to the posters on the wall.

I was trying to get rid of the tension in the room but I was generally curious to. Her eyes lit up, she looked around and ran to the nearest poster. She started to tell me about each one. There were American bands, Asian bands, Latino bands, ect.... The people in some of these bands were apparently like us and had also attended Serenity back in their day according to Sarah. After she was done explaining. I was about to turn back to her when a poster caught my eye it was of an Asian boy band and went over to get a closer look. Each band member was really pretty and I remember seeing the band online and at different American award shows but I can't remember who they are.

" They're one of my favorites " Sarah said from behind me. I turned around and looked at her and I could tell how happy all this made her.

" You must really like music " I said gesturing to all the posters.

" I do, music is one of the things that get me through the day especially when it gets tough." She replied with a smile. " Other then Serenity and my parents it's kinda like my safe haven ".

I know what she was talking about reading did the same thing for me but right now it felt like I would never feel safe again.

" Well Lexi, dinner starts in ten minutes. If you want you can go down to the cafeteria with me and we can eat together " she offers.

I didn't really want to be alone right now anyway so I agreed and I hadn't eaten lunch or breakfast so dinner sounded really good right now. With that we real quick tidied up our room a little and stared off for the cafeteria.

Sorry for waiting so long to update but here it is.

I feel like these chapters are to short. This is me first book so I'm not really sure how long everyone likes them. Please let me know what you guys think.
