The next day, Astreal was awoken by the sound of scratches at the door, followed by a knock. He crawled out of bed sleepily and caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He realised he was only in his boxers and smirked.
His clothes were strewn across the room.
Before opening the door, he quickly sorted out his fringe, which had now become part of the rest of his hair as it spun out in all directions.
He cracked the door open to shade his body from sight and was greeted by Abigail and Maggie, who was sat on her shoulder. A waft of something cooking seeped through the doorway and made Astreal's stomach growl silently.
"Morning!" Abigail cooed with a light smile. She was dressed in a pale yellow summer dress that came down to her knees and had her hair curly hair up in a ponytail. "I made a fry up. Oh, and don't worry abut the food. I got Facimus to nip out and get some vegan sausages and stuff. for you."
"Oh, okay. Thanks."
"No problem. It's the least I could do in return for all you're doing for me. Food'll be ready in three."
She smiled again and then turned to head back to the kitchen, Maggie still perched on her shoulder.
He closed the door and then looked over to his bed to see if there was a trace of Facimus having slept there.
Surely enough, there was a mark from where he'd slept.
He quickly dressed in black jeans and a tie-dye shirt, tucking his crucifix behind the collar. He popped into the bathroom after he dressed and sorted out his hair properly. Before moving out to the main room, he sprayed on some cologne.
"He has arisen." He heard Facimus's voice even before he made it into the room. "And he does wear colour."
"My hidden lover - tie-dye."
"You look good." Facimus grinned.
Abigail tutted with a smile on her face. She walked over to the dining table and set down two plates of fry-up before heading back to get the last one on the side.
Facimus appeared at the the table and Astreal walked over and took the seat next to him.
He felt Facimus's hand come to rest on his thigh. Astreal smiled and laid his hand on top of the others as it squeezed gently.
He flushed subtly and started to eat.
"Abigail. This is amazing."
She smiled warmly once more and revealed a row of razor sharp teeth.
"Wha-"
Nails dag into his thigh and he turned to, eyes watering from the pain of his flesh tearing. He cam to see a black skinned monster with scales popping through its skin as it turned from Facimus it the creature. Bright blue eyes, full of hurt stared straight into his and he felt his heart tighten. It looked nothing like him anymore but those eyes kept reminding him that it was Facimus.
He looked back in a panic and caught sight of their plates.
They were piled high with the torn off faces of men, women, and children that he recognised as the people he couldn't save.
"Astreal." The creature next to him growled.
He didn't move.
He couldn't move.
"Astreal." The scaled monster called louder, with more urgency in it's voice.
He watched as Abigail shifted slowly, bones popping through her skin as she changed form.
"Astreal!" A shout echoed in his head.
Abigail's jaw elongated and she began to climb over the table, knocking the plates of meat all over the white marble. It stretched open it's jaw and it seemed to snap as it made room to fit around his vision.
"Astreal!" The cry was muffled now, but still deafening. "I'm sorry."
Pain flared on his thigh, more intense then before as claws of the monster tore through his skin.
He thrashed out, suddenly able to move. The freedom was quickly stolen as two strong arms wrapped around his body. He tried his legs but found they were also bound.
"Astreal, open your eyes. Stop fighting. It's alright." A tear filled voice called.
He opened his eyes reluctantly, not wanting to see whatever was about to attack him.
He came to see the walls of his bedroom and a pair of legs crossed over, pushing his own legs into his chest. He looked closer and noticed arms holding his, also to his chest.
"Astreal, it's fine. I'm here. You're safe." The familiar voice filled his head and he cried harder.
"I don't want this." He sobbed.
He saw a white light to the right of his vision before feeling his limbs slacken and then he was turned so that his head was rested side-ways on their chest. The smell of mint filled senses. "I know" Facimus said quietly. They sat there for a bit till Astreal quietened down.
The white light faded and he felt himself being sat up slightly.
"This stuff is for your nightmares isn't it? Facimus moved the bottle of pills closer for Astreal to see better. He nodded and reached for the bottle. It disappeared from sight and he quickly heard the cap being removed.
"Open up."
He felt two tablets fall on his tongue and he quickly swallowed them before moving closer to Facimus and starting to cry again.
The white light appeared again for a bit and Astreal figured it was the door.
Soon, Astreal felt himself being laid down to face to ceiling. He reached out when Facimus moved away but found he had only sat up and grabbed the loop of his jeans. His leg was raised and he felt his own jeans being unbuttoned and pulled down from his waist. He tried to object but Facimus simply dismissed it by saying "Trust me". Some sort of fabric was wrapped around his thigh.
He suddenly remembered the the tear in his leg and gritted his teeth as the pain flooded back.
Astreal reached out again and managed to get Facimus's arm. "Don't leave me." He begged through sharp breaths.
"I'm not, don't worry." Facimus laid down next to him and slowly laid his hand on where the wound was, the other came to rest under Astreal's cheek. "Get some sleep. You won't have any more nightmares, I swear to you."
His leg began to tingle and he figured that he was being healed.
A wave of fatigue washed over him and the world faded into black, Facimus's cyan eyes fading into the dark a he drifted into sleep.
