i don't know what it is, but i'm really bad at writing. no, i don't think you understand.
i'm really bad at writing.
whether it's writing poems, songs, essays, and just writing in general, i can't seem to get my ideas down exactly how i want it.
honestly, i have the motivation + inspiration to do so, but i'm lacking the skills in order to make my messy thoughts scattered about in my brain and ideas on a crumpled restaurant napkin come to life in a much refined and polished form.
i even had trouble thinking of how to convey my idea for writing this. smh.
i see people who can write so much in under 5 minutes!
5 m i n u t e s
while i'm over here thinking of how to write an intro for about 30 minutes.
i have mixed feelings for these types of people: admiration and jealousy.
how do you do it??? there's so much that could be written. so much ideas! and you seem to write it down in less than 8 sentences. i've finally came to the conclusion that you must be a wizard.
i believe that i have a perfect writing style for the trAsh i tend to write, but ya know. it would be nice if i could just write like i'm a mix of shakespeare, a talented author and some modern day musician. i have a writing style that isn't really as "refined" or "polished" as i wish it was, but it'll have to do (i guess).
i tend to write really descriptively so i'm trying to shorten my thoughts a bit to not confuse anyone (unless i want my story/poem/song to confuse someone then i just do the opposite)
on the other hand, when i rant, whether to someone or writing it down, i have a bad habit to perfect what i'm going to say even before its even said. I think about how i'm going to say it and how its going to be presented.
and i hate it.
i have no clue what about the word 'ranting' that i don't get. i want my rants to be unfiltered and a jumbled mess. not some perfected masterpiece of a paragraph i can print out. just something that isn't perfect, but conveys the idea well and like my personality, ya know? now, don't get me wrong, when it comes to my short stories and my other types of writing (such as this one), it's easy for it to be well thought out and 'scripted' i guess you could say because i already know the topics i want to talk about and the background behind that thesis.
basically what i'm trying to say is that i have 2 goals for my writing by the end of this year:
i want my rants to be messy and unfiltered.
i want my essays to convey my idea better, not just adding random words to make it seem fancy.
as you can probably tell from just a few chapters in this "blog book", punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc. is not what i care about when writing like this. i care more about the subject itself. this is just not something i would want to spend my time refining.
also another thing: i want a writing style that distinguishes me from other writers. yeah, that's a bit tricky since there's many others who write exactly the same as me, but somehow, i want to find a way to make my writing style notable
i just don't want to be one of those writers that copy other's writing styles. i want mine to be unique and have a special meaning to me.
now for all the other striving young writers out there like me, this doesn't mean you can't gain inspiration from others. of course you can! if you like how another person writes and their style, then start adapting some of their writing habits to get closer to what you want it to be!
^^\inspiration is okay, but copying isn't
okay so now that i've gotten that out of the way,,,
i need tips. not like the
"oh you're already good with writing and i don't really know what to say because i don't want to hurt your feelings or be mean"
stop with that. i know that I'M pretty bad at constructive criticism but when criticizing me, you can be as cONSTRUCTIVE as you want to be.
i need genuine tips that can help me improve my writing abilities. comment them if you'd like. or not. then you'll have to deal with me writing badly.
yeah.
