Katie's POV

I woke up the next morning to rain beating against my window."That's weird,"I thought to myself,"Someone would have made sure I was awake by now."I climbed out of bed and headed down to the kitchen."There you are,"I said as I sat across from mom at the table,"What's the matter?"Mom looked like she had been crying."Katie,"She said in a soft voice,"Y-your brother l-left.I f-found this n-note when I went to see if he was awake."She handed me the paper she had been clutching."Dear mom and Katie,"I read,"I love you both with all my heart.I don't want you to forget that, but I had to leave.I can't live in this house anymore knowing my little sister thinks I hurt her.Katie, Would you please do one last thing for me?I want you to listen to Hold On Till May.There's a set of lyrics that I want you to pay careful attention to.Love, Alex"I dropped the paper and ran back upstairs for my ipod.I started the song and closed my eyes as I listened to the lyrics.I felt my breath catch in my throat as I heard Lindsey sing her part."If you were me, you'd do the same/Cause I can't take anymore/I'll draw the shades and close the door/everything's not right and I would rather..."

"Does anyone know where he is?"I asked Elizabeth.She and Heather had come over after school.Elizabeth shook her head and said,"No.Katie didn't come to school today,so we only know what she text us."I nodded and sighed.Alex sounded a lot like me.Leaving Katie when life got to be a bit much. . .
