"Ser, are you sure you want to do this?" Ronan sighs out, placing her fork on top of her plate.
It's been a few days since we arrived at Metanoia. Ronan and I stayed inside the cabin, taking our time adjusting and healing our wounds.
Cayden and Zack would come by and drop off food for us or any other necessity they thought we needed. But every time they came, I couldn't bring myself to step outside and come face to face with them. So they would just leave a bag on the porch and leave us alone.
Today, I decided to get my stitches taken out.
I still don't remember when I got all of those gashes around the one that Fallon gave me, it was probably from one of the warriors during the fight, but those wounds had long healed and in its place were a few jagged pink scars to add to my collection.
I wanted to take them out myself, but some of them were in places that I couldn't reach and Ronan was too nervous to take them out. So I decided that it was time to pay Willa a visit.
"The gashes are healed, Ronan. I need to get the stitches out at some point." I said walking over and picking up her empty plate.
It was early in the morning, Ronan and I had just eaten breakfast and were sitting at the island in the kitchen. I placed the plates in the sink and began to wash them off with soap and water.
"That's not what I mean, Seraphina, and you know it."
I stopped what I was doing and laid the plates in the sink. I looked over my shoulder to see worried eyes staring back at me. I looked down and took a deep breath before walking over to her.
"I know you're scared, honestly so am I and I even grew up with these people. Yet, I'm terrified of facing them. But we can't stay cooped up in this cabin forever, Ronan. We're going to have to face them at some point. We're going to have to face our past eventually." I sighed out.
"Then why are we still here? You said it yourself, the idea of telling them everything scares you, it hurts you! We don't have to tell them anything, we could just leave-"
"And go where?" I interjected.
She froze at the thought, then dropped her eyes. I sighed out and raked a hand through my light blonde hair.
"We have nowhere to go, Ronan. We can't do this alone anymore. If he's still out there, then it won't be long until he comes for us and you know it. You've seen it, Ronan. I know you have. You have the same vision almost every night and every time you wake up screaming with tears in your eyes.
"We're running out of time...
"If we want to make it out of this alive, then we need their help."
She blinked hard then looked away. She knows the reality of our situation.
We're running out of time. She just doesn't know what to do about it.
But I do.
And as much as it hurts me to do this, I have no choice.
I need them, I can't do this without them.
It was time for me to face my past.
I pulled Ronan close to me and kissed her crown gently. I could feel her wolf stirring in the back of her mind, not liking the idea of letting me go alone.
She was growing stronger, I could sense it. She only has two more years till she comes of age, till she turns 18. She won't grow to be as strong as me, but her wolf will definitely be one tough ass female.
I gave her a reassuring smile and her shoulder a gentle squeeze.
"I'll be just fine. Keep the doors locked and the curtains shut. I'll be back soon."
