"So you know who I am?"
Her brow arched slightly while the strength in her stance grew. This girl was already surprised by the fact that I knew her name. She has no idea that I'm about to flip her world upside down and set it ablaze.
A sinister grin snuck its way onto my lips as I began to stalk her.
"Oh I know so much more than just that, kiddo. Oh my little birdie, look how much you've grown," I taunted
My patronizing words rolled off my tongue and tore down her walls of confidence. I knew that nickname dug up memories of someone she lost, but little did she know that the stubborn little shit had a knack for coming back from the dead.
"What did you just say?" She whispered.
I could tell the gears in her brain were beginning to turn. She was figuring me out but she didn't want to believe it. She couldn't.
Her moment of weakness gave me the opportunity to strike, and I did. As she snapped her head around to face me, I launched my fist into her cheek and sent her flying into the dirt.
A ferocious growl tore from her lips as she leaped up from the ground. A warning. I didn't bother returning the favor, for I didn't want to give myself away just yet.
I saw her movements play out in her eyes before she even twitched a muscle. Just as I expected, she lunged at me.
But what I hadn't expected was the amount of anger and frustration running through her veins.
She was strong and a tough ass warrior, but she could never match us.
I ducked out of the way of her blow and sent a hard jab to her ribs before shoving her back. The crowd was growing in size now. I glanced up to my right to see Conrad joining Ronan and Sebastian. That meant Zack was watching too.
Lucky me.
This little female surely did take after me though, making a move at any sign of weakness. Just as I turned my head back to face her, I was welcomed with a fist flying towards it.
Unlucky for her, I knew it was coming.
With a swift motion, I caught her fist right before it brushed my skin. I could feel the crowd still at once as a small gasp left Birdie's lips. I couldn't help but crack a smile at the sound.
What a beautiful feeling: shocking people's minds into a moment of malfunction.
I let my wolf sneak her way forward so that we could get a good look at this female. My grip around her knuckles tightened, causing her to falter a little, as I tilted my head just enough for her to see my eyes.
I expected this to be a moment of realization for her, but it was quite the opposite. There was no recognition painted anywhere on her face, only fear.
Fear of this monstrous stranger before her.
I released her hand like it was a flame as a wave of uneasiness racked my body. There was something in the way she looked at me, the way her body shook in terror, that made me feel ashamed.
But her next words only pissed me off.
"What the hell are you?! You freak!"
A deep growl erupted from my chest with enough ferocity to shake the ground beneath our feet. My beast did not like being disrespected and I was right there with her, even if it was coming from someone we love.
I watched several wolves cower from my strength, too many for it to be normal.
"Seraphina, keep it under control. Some of the warriors are starting to get antsy," Uncle Conrad whispered into my mind.
