Should We Have Outgrown Monarchy By Now?

(I'm going to be discussing Britain in this one)

I think having "kings" and "queens" in this day and age is ridiculous.

Firstly, they don't to anything except wear "crowns", - silly hats made of extortionately priced materials - write their names and wave. I'm sure they're all lovely people, but they serve just about as much purpose as someone on benefits; the only difference is that the royal family gets paid more money than most people will ever see, which leads onto my next point.

They get paid for doing so little, and are celebrated. Dictators do more than they do! Why do people care about "jubilees" and the like? It's celebrating the fact that one spoiled brat has leeched your money for a very long time.

And this new over hyped wedding - oh god, the weddings. What reason do the royal family have for not paying for their own weddings? They get paid off people's taxes anyway, never mind people having to pay for their stupid ceremony. All it is some guy making them say stuff and reading from the bible. Can't they love each other without the glossy shit?

In conclusion, I think democracy doesn't need someone to write their name on a piece of paper for something to be passed.

I'm aware that I've ranted on this one, so I shall say no more XD
