So Gone

I stood on the small make-shift stage set up at the head of the hall. A Dj stand was set up to our left across from the doors.

I watched as Leo came in with Adam and Chase on his tail. He looked angry, and rightfully so. He caught my eye and his face softened, walking over to me he gave me a big hug.

"I'm sorry Serena. Just don't let him ruin tonight, you worked too hard on this performance to let him affect you. And you look damn fine by the way." Leo comforted me. Looking me up and down.

I'd curled my hair a little so the waves were more defined, longer and bigger. My purple, short heels matching my dress perfectly. My make up light, but effective. I looked amazing if I do say so myself.

I chuckle at Leo, "Don't worry about me L. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I'm getting my own back, by looking amazing and performing a song, just for him. Make sure to point that out to him for me?" I ask him.

"Really?" He beams at my plan.

"Really, I'm gonna show him what he's missing." I wink, shooing him off stage.

I could see Bree talking to Ethan in her blue high heels. It was working. Looking over I saw Adam waving at me so I wave back with a genuine smile. Then I look over at Chase. He'd dressed nicely, but his face looked worried and sad as Leo was talking to him. I could tell from the way he looked towards me, Leo had mentioned that this performance was for him.

Principle Perry made the announcement and handed me the microphone. Thank the lords it's wireless.

I clicked it into the stand as the song band begun to play.

She's so gone by Lemonade mouth

I flip my hair to the left side of my face as I look, to the right side, straight at Chase.

Insecure
In her skin
Like a puppet, a girl on a string

Broke away
Learned to fly
If you want her back, gotta let her shine

So it looks like the jokes on you
Cause the girl that you fought you knew

She's so gone
That's so over now
She's so gone
You won't find her around
You can look but you won't see
The girl I used to be
Cause she's
She's so gone

I walk down into the middle of the gym floor. As the kids separate and give me a direct view of Chase. Leo pushing him forward so he's standing in front of me.

Here I am
This is me
And I'm stronger than you ever thought I'd be

I shove his shoulder a little, he looks at me hurt but I keep going. This is just how I felt. Hurt and humiliated.

Are you shocked?
Are you mad?
That you're missing out on who I really am

Now it looks like the jokes on you
Cause the girl that you thought you knew

I turn away from Chase, looking at the rest of the students.

She's so gone
That's so over now
She's so gone
You won't find her around
You can look but you won't see
The girl I used to be
Cause she's
She's so gone away
Like history
She's so gone
Baby this is me, yeah

I turn back to Chase, an evil smile on my face. He just looks at me sadly, with regret.

She's so gone
That's so over now
She's so gone
You won't find her around
You can look but you won't see
The girl I used to be
Cause she's
She's so gone

She's so gone

You can look but you won't see
The girl I used to be
Cause she's
She's so gone

So long
Shes so gone
Gone, gone, gone

I walk away from Chase. Not daring to look back. Putting the mic back on the stand, I leave the gym and sit on the stairs outside school. Just waiting for it to be over. Now I was out of sight, I let the tears fall in waves. Every time I thought I had cried myself dry, I would feel more tears follow.

I pulled out my phone, scrolling through my contacts. Finally, I found the number I needed.

"Heeyoo!" I hear his voice bellowing through the receiver.

"Trent?" I snivel down the line.

"Hey, what wrong Sere? I thought you were at the dance with Davenport tonight." He asked, his voice softer and full of concern.

"Yeah, I was supposed to be. But he brought another girl with him, can you come and pick me up? Please?" I begged him, throwing my hand over my mouth to stop myself from wailing down the receiver.

"I'm coming, stay where you are." He tells me before the line goes dead. I close my phone as I hear footsteps behind me, I sat there turning my head away, as somebody sat down beside me.

"Serena?" Leo asked. Thank god it was him and not Chase.

I turn to look at him, my lip trembling and my eyes filling up again. He pulled me in close, letting me rest my head on his shoulder as I cried. My body shook, as I let it all out with Leo there to comfort me. We sat there until the crying stopped. Soon my brothers' car pulled up, he stepped out and marched up the stairs. When he saw my puffy face, his nostrils flared and he marched straight towards the school.

Leo and I looked at each other, scrambled up to our feet, and raced inside after Trent. He'd just burst through the doors of the gym as we caught up to him.

"You!" He shouted, pointing at Chase. He tried to storm over there, but I stood in front of him. "Sere, get out of the way. He deserves a beat down for what he did!" Trent screamed at me, his eyes locked on Chase, ready to kill the second I moved out of the way.

"Trent just stop it! Go wait outside, please. This isn't your fight. I don't need you defending my honor or anything stupid, I just want a ride home. Please, you're making a scene." I begged him. He looked down at me his rage subsiding.

"Okay, I'll wait in the car." He agreed, sending a final glare at Chase before leaving.

I sigh and go to follow him, but I feel somebody pull me back gently by my arm. I hang my head low, as I shake his arm off. So he holds my waist instead and tries to pull me back into him, but I tug my wrist free and turn to face him.

"Serena, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-" Chase starts to apologize, but I hold up my hand to stop him. Shaking my head.

"Don't bother Chase, I get it. She's pretty. Why would you wanna go with me when you have a girl like that wanting to go with you? At least now I know where I stand."

"No, Serena-" He tries to plead but again I cut him short.

"Goodbye, Chase." I choak out, my voice barely above a whisper. I turn and run out the door, all the way to my brother's car. Throwing myself in and buckling up, he drives away. I dare to look in the wing mirror and I see Chase stood on the stairs, watching us leave.

Maybe I should have let him say his piece.

I wonder what might have been said as another tear rolls down my cheek. As soon as I'm home I don't even stop to say hi to mom, I trudge myself upstairs, wipe the makeup from my face, and change into some pajamas before crashing into bed. Crying myself into a deep sleep.
