Kendal

"Ready?" Ethan ask me as we gather the last of our things. "As ready as I'll ever be." I sigh as I push some of my hair behind my ear. He sends me a soft smile and grabs my bag off the bed before I can. I roll my eyes at his stubborn habits.

He leads the way out of the room and I'm quick to close the door behind us. "We're only a few hours away. We should be there by tonight." He says over his shoulder. I nod even though he can't see me.

The carpet screams at me with its ugly patterns as I watch my feet. I can't wait to get out if this place. I've never been the type to enjoy hotels. I've always been a home body.

We approach the elevator and I sigh as I click the button since Ethan's hands are full. I know my annoyed demeanor is driving Ethan crazy. I can tell he's itching just to say something.

We step on to the elevator and the overwhelmingly clean smell smacks me in the face. "It smells awful in here." I murmur as my nose scrunches up due to instinct.

"Jesus Kendal. I know this fucking sucks but I'm trying okay." Ethan snaps right before the elevator doors glide open.

I instantly feel my chest tighten. I feel awful now for complaining but I also don't think I deserved him yelling at me.

I follow him out of the elevator without saying a word. He doesn't dare say another word to me either. The tension is unbelievable as he practically slams the keycards on to the desk before we walk out.

The lady was probably beyond confused as she watches the sliding doors close behind us. Ethan's now walking quickly, practically leaving me in the dust.

He reaches the car way before me. I don't get there until he's closing the back door after throwing our bags in.

He climbs into the drivers seat with his jaw clenched and a loud sigh. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find angry Ethan hot.

The car revs up as I fasten my seatbelt and sit back against the plush leather. He's quick to leave. He's determined to get there in as little time as possible.

He watches the road and doesn't dare glance at me. I can't believe I really pissed him off this much just by saying the elevator smelled. I've never seen him so on edge before.

I reach into the back to find my bag. As I find my bag I unzip it and fish for my headphones. I can't sit in absolute silence the whole ride. I'm hoping the music lulls me to sleep somehow.

My movement actually gets him to glance at me in curiosity but I don't acknowledge him. I don't want to slip up and make him even more pissed than he already is. It might be best if I just sit back and try and enjoy the ride.

I slip my headphones in and close my eyes. The music drowns out everything and I sink into my seat.

Ethan

She's completely ignoring me. She even made an effort to put her headphones in and close her eyes.

I feel bad for snapping at her. I'm so on edge and just worried about getting to Colorado. I don't want anything to happen on the way there.

I'm trying super hard to make her as comfortable as she possibly can be. I must be doing a sucky job at it considering her actions.

I sigh as I take in the road once again. I'm sick of the road and the signs. I can't wait to just stay somewhere and relax.

My grip on the wheel tightens as I try and calm myself down. I try and tell myself that it'll all be okay.

Kendal doesn't seem to have a problem with falling asleep because it only takes her about 20 minutes. Her light snores fill the car and I can't help but smile. I may be frustrated with her but she always finds a way to make my heart pound in all the right ways.

I know I have a long trip ahead of me but every second with be filled with thoughts of her. All sorts of thoughts. Our future, happy moments we've had, and even the bad ones.

Time seems to move in slow motion as I near the house. I bought this house months ago due to the fact Grayson and I always wanted somewhere to get away. Colorado seemed like the perfect place. Nice and calm.

The nature catches my eye as I drive. It's breathtaking and completely different from the city. Kendal's bound to love this place. She always tends to love the simplest of things.

I pull up to the familiar wooded area with a sigh. Finally here. I swear my butts numb from sitting for so long.

I hesitantly nudge Kendal. I'm scared to break the ice due to earlier but all she does is sit up and pull her headphones out.

"Woah." She mutters under her breath as she takes in the gorgeous trees. I don't say anything. I just smile at her sense of amazement.

She then takes in the house. It's far more simple than my actual home but she's still amazed. Like I said, she loves the simple things.

I park the car right in front of the house. "Come on. I'll show you around." I smile. She nods and jumps out of the car. Like me, she's probably eager to stand.

The gravel crunches under our feet as I grab her hand and lead her up to the front door. "Do you come here often?" She ask timidly. "Not as much as I'd like." I say honestly.

She doesn't say another word as I swing the door open. Her eyes are quick to wonder around.

"It's beautiful." She mutters. "Yeah." I mutter as I take in her slight smile and rosy cheeks.

This is just a boring filler. I'm sorry.
