Once we got far enough from Megan, I stopped walking and turned to face Liam.

He opened his mouth to say something, and I burst out laughing.

At first, he looked at me like I was crazy. But a moment later, he began laughing too. So, we stood on the edge of the dance floor by the alcohol kegs looking like two idiots.

Finally, we both caught out breathe.

"That was— wow." Liam started.

"I even surprised myself with that one," I slightly grinned.

"Can I ask you something?" He said, more seriously.

"What?"

"Was that kiss all to piss off Megan?"

I hesitated. I hadn't been sure why I kissed him. But I did know that it felt amazing when I did— like walking on air. It was one of the best feelings I had had in the past six months.

I bit the bottom of my lip, not sure how to respond. Noticing my hesitation, he took a step closer to me.

"Because if it was a little for your benefit, too..." He drifted off and I felt myself melt.

He blinked his long eyelashes across his stormy blue eyes. Standing in front of me, talking about kissing me, with a sexy, confident voice and seductive grin, I could see why every single girl in Blackden Ridge wanted him.

But he wanted me.

That thought sent a rush of endorphins into my head.

"I'm not sure why I did it. But it felt really, really good." I grinned.

"Yeah?" He smiled.

"Yeah," I confirmed.

Liam draped his arm over my shoulder. "You wanna double check?"

I nodded and giggled as he brought his lips to mine. He was gentle and soft before backing away only a moment later.

"I was right," I smiled.

"Like always," he said, kissing me gently again.

But this time I wrapped my arms around his upper back and brought him closer to me. Our lips collided with more force. It felt powerful, with a rush of adrenaline, like I was getting struck by lightning but was immune to the pain.

Eventually, we both pulled away.

"This, right here," Liam said. "makes me very happy."

I grinned. "Me too."

"We should make it a regular thing."

"I agree," I said as he draped his arm over my shoulder and I leaned by head on him. We took in the party, the music, the people, for a few moments. "This is nice."

He nodded and slightly tightened his grip on my shoulder.

As we stood there, a familiar face appeared.

"Hey, you two," Drake said as he wobbly approached. He was dressed in jeans and a blue, button up flannel, rolled up to his elbows. It seemed like he had had a few drinks.

Liam slowly let go of me. "Hey, man," he said and did that half bro-hug thing with Drake.

"You two looked cozy," Drake said slurring a few sounds.

"Just hanging out," I replied.

Drake chuckled. "Yeah. Totally."

"Dude, how much did you drink?" Liam asked him.
