"y'all still good to come over tonight?" donghyuck questioned.

it was a lazy friday lunchtime for the four of them, lounging around on the grassy sports field in the school. jaemin was making chemistry flashcards, lying on his front over his work and sipping water. jeno was lying on his back, face glowing in the sun, and renjun was picking dandelions and seeing how many puffs it took to blow all the fluff off them. donghyuck, surprisingly, was bent over a rather girlish notebook, scribbling away.

"what's happening tonight?" jeno yawned, sitting up so that he was resting on his elbows.

"barbeque, dumbass," jaemin laughed as he put another finished flashcard in his growing pile.

"ohh," jeno nodded, and then frowned in jaemin's direction. "jae, i don't know how you can do chemistry when the sun's out."

"i've gotta do it at some point," jaemin reasoned in a dry tone.

"yeah, but it's sunny and chem totally ruins your mood," jeno complained. he huffed and flopped onto his back again, shielding his eyes from the sun with an arm over his face.

"do you hate chemistry that much?" jaemin asked him idly, most of his mind focused on chemical equations and formulas.

"chemistry should fucking die."

jaemin just laughed and went back to his flashcards. he'd seen how stressed jaehyun had gotten a few years ago when he'd left all of his revision way too late, and he was determined not to make his brother's mistakes. so nerding it out seemed to be the way to go.

"hyuck, what are you doing?" renjun spoke up, peering over donghyuck's shoulder at the notebook he was writing on.

donghyuck's brows were furrowed in concentration. "it's for xi-xi's birthday party," he explained, "i'm reviewing the guest list."

"your girlfriend's got you secretary-ing now?" jeno smirked his way, lifting his arm from over his eyes just to see donghyuck's eye roll in his direction.

"i don't mind," donghyuck shot back, "i offered to help, actually. and anyway, it's a big ass house party so i'm making sure to invite all the cool people."

"oh? who else is coming then?" renjun asked quizzically.

"what do you mean who else?" donghyuck scoffed teasingly, "since when were you guys cool?"

renjun slapped his arm, hard, and told him, "you need to get some new best friends."

"okay, be right back!" donghyuck chirped, making as if to get up and head towards the other boys who were playing soccer.

"yeah, leave already, ew," jeno joked.

"how come you aren't playing soccer, je?" jaemin asked absently, barely glancing up from his revision.

jeno's gaze trailed up to meet renjun's and he smiled, eyes crinkling into crescent moons. a faint blush painted renjun's cheeks as he couldn't help smiling back. "don't feel like it," he told jaemin.

"gonna lose those abs real quick," jaemin quipped.

jeno gave a loud hoot and reached out to slap jaemin's ass. "fuck off, jae, i'm never losing these." he went to pull up his shirt, eyes drifting over to renjun again. he let the shirt fall and instead shot the chinese boy a wink.

feeling flustered, renjun turned back to donghyuck and asked, "who's invited to this party then, hyuckie?"

"uhm... lots of girls, obviously," donghyuck answered, still busy scribbling down names, "you know, eunbin, hyeyeon, nancy and all them."
